    IFPA Pro Bodybuilder Turned Powerlifter!

    Hey everyone!

This marks a brand new venture for me in my competitive career. I have competed in natural bodybuilding up to this point - turning pro in 2007, and winning my 1st overall as a pro in 2010 - and am now gearing my competitive spirit towards powerlifting for the first time. This will be a journal I will keep updated, answer any questions for those that care, and will mainly use to keep me accountable and track my progress. I have a lot to learn with the different techniques and rules of different federations, which I am sure will come easier as I progress in the sport, but for now (and for my first competition) I plan on just having fun and seeing if I can do any damage in my weight class!

I've chosen a raw USAPL meet in Ft Wayne, IN that will take place in about 7.5 weeks mainly because it is close to me. It seems they have some pretty strict rules, so I doubt I will be able to either match or break any new PRs at the meet, but hey...you never know!

Right now I am weighing about 230lbs and will try to get down to the 220lb weight class. Here are a few recent videos of some things I've been able to accomplish:

    Deadlift - 655lbs

Squat - 585lbs (although not quite to USAPL depth yet...maybe with a belt)

As for Bench - I don't have a video, but I can pause 415lbs, but still get stuck trying to pause 425lbs.

And just for giggles, here's a fat boy doing 19 pull ups

Feel free to follow along on my journey into this new competitive phase!

Tommy, are you taking a break from competitive bodybuilding to build mass or are you done with bodybuildling and going to now concentrate fully on power lifting?

Awesome videos man! Wish there were some people around me dedicated to going heavy and training correctly. I could def use a partner who is stronger than I am.

    Keep us posted.
