Pho is good but if you are expecting an amazing symphony of explosive flavor that you've never experienced before you are likely going to be very disappointed. It's just beef strips (tendon, tripe and meatballs are also common options) or chicken (every place offers it, never seen it ordered) and a simple broth (afaik beef pho uses beef broth and chicken pho a chicken broth) with rice noodles, onion and cilantro. You are also given a plate with additional vegetables you may add as you see fit, usually including lime, raw jalapeno, sprouts and thai basil. Adding sriracha or hoison sauce is also very common.

I've had pho at a number of places coast to coast, and although I've yet to have a "bad" bowl, I've also yet to have anything that surprised me. Maybe I've been led astray by all my Vietnamese friends but after all this time I've come to accept that although I may slightly prefer pho from one place over another, expecting anything beyond a satisfying meal will result in disappointment imo. I would personally get some sort of bun thit nuong or bun cha (I'm honestly really not sure what the difference is between the two, I'm sure a better foodie/most Vietnamese people could tell you. It might just be a North/South regional thing) with whatever your preferred meat is, I enjoy the flavor and texture a great deal more.

pho is just vietnamese soup basically. All of the pho places around here(which there are alot) have combo and they usually have lots of meats in them like pork/meatballs/steak/tripe/etc.
I personally like getting the vermacelli plates they have at the pho places they typically look like:

edit: make sure to get the spring rolls, they usually come with a peanut sauce...and its usually damn epic

Get the Pho Dac Biet. Special Pho with Beef, beef tripe, beef ball, and beef brisket. Different restaurants may have different house special. Pho is amazing when you find a place that make the soup really tasty.

Why do they not just replace the trans fats with modified palm oil or something else.

The peanut butter taste really good, and has pretty much the exact same macros as regular natty peanut butter. As for the trans fat, it must not contain a substantial amount, since they are able to mark on the nutrition facts that it contains 0 grams. ( yes i know most labels have a plus minus of like 15% but still, its not like eating a fast food burger or something per say.)
