Last nights challenge at Gaglione Bros in Allied Gardens area of San Diego, CA. Not a well promoted or known challenge but once they have none the less since opening at this spot since 2004. Not the hardest challenge out there but a damn good once for fans of authentic Philly style cheesesteaks and cheese steak fries. Got win #19 for formal eating challenges in San Diego County with this win. Took me 17 minutes (had 30) to the dot to finish and that was fairly paced I would say. Meal free and picture on their ******** page as current record holder.

They have practically 0 taste, so I can't see how there can be horror stories about that haha

But the texture is the problem, they're very rubbery and chewy. Personally I wash/strain them, and cook them quite a bit until most of the moisture is out and they just start to change colour; then I add in whatever I'm mixing them with and cook normally.

They're still a bit chewy but I think the key is more what you mix it with rather than how you cook them. I've done chicken/salmon with veggie stir-fry type dishes with them several times, and those never come out as good as the ones I've been doing recently with pb, maple syrup, goat cheese, etc.

So a thicker "sauce" kind of base, then? Interesting.

On a related note, did anyone else ever find it weird that popeye actually had monster forearms, but not biceps. In fact...pretty much no biceps?

Not much muscle anywhere else, really. The only other exception might be his calves...but that could just as easily be the fit of his pants.

The noodles are good for volume and something to twirl your fork around, thats about it... and fiber, but thats the least of my concerns.

So yea a thicker sauce, something with a lot of flavor, etc. will work better than just adding in other ingredients.

Well I haven't had the Cherry flavor of Diet Dr.Pepper in quite awhile, just the original lately. So it could be slightly different, not sure tbh.

I'm posting a disproportionate amount of vegetarian meals at the moment... next one will have meat in it, promise!

It tastes better than it looks, perhaps I should have taken a photo with a Pepper cut in half so the mix was showing...

The mix was Mushrooms, Red Onions, Courgette, Walnuts & some Homemade Brown Breadcrumbs topped with some Cheese.

just a before and after shot with me giving thumbs up. food looks the same. its all burred under the 16 oz of turkey, stuffing 1st, cranberry 2nd and mayo at bottom.
