Seriously I've been watching Fury since his pro debut, I used to stream his early fights on the work computer on boxing guru.
Honestly Fury had literally No fans until he beat Klitschko.
He was supposed to lose to Chisora twice apparently, then he was ducking David Price (lol)
David Haye was gonna ko him
A lot of people said Ustinov was going to also and Fury ducked him.
Wlad was supposed to destroy him, then he was gonna get him in the rematch (that didn't happen)
I'm being straight up here, literally nobody was a fan of this guy and nobody thought he had any talent at all until probably Wilder 1.
It just sickens me all these Johnny come lateley fans pretending they have supported him since day one.

So if you don’t watch the lowest tier fights and pick a fighter to like within their first few fights then you aren’t allowed to like him? Can casuals have a favourite fighter at all or only ones that don’t hold titles?
I follow boxing (not as much heavyweight though) and still can’t tell you the all the up and comers
Let alone guys in their first pro fights (unless they are Olympic medalists). I can’t imagine really following anyone that isn’t at least 10-0 (10-1 or 2 is fine and of course there are anomalies like loma who was a challenger from his first pro fight). I’ll watch the fight but won’t remember the name.
Also, you could say he has had 2 careers (before breakdown and after). He’s a different person with a different story the second time so maybe that wins him fans. Nothing wrong with that.Last edited by blindsideflank; 04-23-2022 at 01:11 PM.

Not sure that’s true OP.
Lots of people recognised his talent from very early on and enjoyed watching him fight, but just didn’t think he had the work ethic or mental stability to achieve his potential.
