Did some maintenance washes with the ceramic coat and looking good so far.

If you're lazy, Id recommend buying and just using this (prep would definitely help): https://www.amazon.com/carpro-hydro2...arpro%20hydro2

I bought the concentrate (2nd carpro one: https://www.amazon.com/Hydro2-Touchl...=carpro+hydro2) and added water. Really easy paint sealant that looks to last about 2-3 months. Been using it over the ceramic coat and working well.

For the curious who have swirls and light scratches, polished with meguiars 105 then glossed with 205. Worked well for me except for deeper scratches. But cleaned up all spiderwebs.

Cheaped out and went this when it was cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/WEN-6010-6-In...ds=da+polisher

Seems to work well so far using microfiber bonnets. May be worth getting something with more more speed for deeper scratches, but not sure if that would fix them.

I'm confused is ceramic coating a type of sealant or is it completely separate from sealants?

    Separate

Can be confusing with how some companies market their product. They will call it a coating but it’s actually a sealant and You mostly see this in the dealership world with the finance department trying to up sell a coating package that protects from acid rain and bird droppings...

...in reality it’s just a sealant that needs to be reapplied every few months like usual.

Ceramic coating if applied correctly and not purchased on Amazon for $39.99 lasts a WHOLE lot longer then a few Months!!
And it does not need to be re applied!
It needs to have a boost from a SIO2 based sealant from time to time

There are a bunch of them on Amazon that are cheap. I have no idea if they work well or last a long time though. I have seen reviews by people who are knowledgeable on the Trinova one and they seemed positive.

MTM is the way to go, but it is pricey.

I just bought the shine supply one. Came with Shift soap for $95. I also bought Feynlab detailer spray and their car soap since my car is coated with feynlab. ive been pretty happy with feynlab coating.

i absolutely loath doing wheels/tires. brb get them clean then drive to fill up and they're dirty again. Fukkkk that.i dont even bother. just pressure wash them and soap em up and thats it.

I love doing my interior though. shine supply leather/interior cleaner is my main now. Nothing beats driving a perfectly clean interior/vacuumed car. no sticky bullchit anywhere, just clean and matte/factory/new looking finish everywhere. das it.

Nice: foam cannons or guns are excellent items to add to your collection.

Yeah cleaning wheels is a pretty tedious task. When I had the STI, it was awful because after one drive they were dusted again. Now I have a truck, so they still look clean after a week. Plus, they are much easier to clean.

A clean interior gives me a stiffy for sure. Can’t stand getting into someone’s car that’s even slightly dirty and absolutely rage when they have a dirty windshield.

The thing that sucks for me is washing a truck now. It’s my first truck and holy crap is there a lot of real estate compared to a sedan. Sucks ass.

    Yep same here.

Lately it has sucked here. My interior floor is awful because of our weather. It’s goes from one foot of snow over a few days, to -25 degrees, to 45 degrees and everything is melting. Sucks ass.

    What’s your budget?

Remember: with a polisher comes different pads and possible different sized backing plates with the matching different sized pads.

I have previous experience with DA's, so I'm just gonna grab the Harbor Freight DA (I'm poor) and use a 5" backing plate, Meguiars MF pads, and Griots Fast Correcting/Perfecting Cream combo. It should be adequate.

Yeah it will be fine. Some people have modded their CE polisher from Harbor Freight, but at that point I would rather upgrade to the GG6.

5 inch was smart to go with along with the matching sized MF pads to cut, so you’re good there. You might not be able to finish well with MF pads though, but that depends on the paint.

Sonax spray and shine. Used it a few times with good results. Do not apply in direct sunlight or it’s gonna streak up bad.

After years of using different detailing products, i've come to the conclusion that Shine Supply is the fukin goat.

    Products I've used from them:

Shift, Throttle, Punch It, Leather & Interior Cleaner, Wet Detailer (on my old non ceramic coated car). Wet Detailer was a bit of a miss for me as that chit streak'd up.

I had my car ceramic coated with Feynlab, and I've been doing the washes myself with shine supply to help keep it boosted up. Punch It is a fuking winner though. Probably my favorite.

Also, Feynlab's pure wash foams up so nice with a foam cannon. As does shift. I rotate between the two.
Look, i know i don't really know you and all, and i know you probably hear this like everyday, but your just so perfect to me. The few hours we talked were really great even if the convo was stale, your really pretty and chill, and your country thats just perfect :'D i really dont know how to explain it, but i think i have feelings for you somehow. i never felt like this with someone i just met, but i felt the need to get it off my chest. sorry for being all weird just idk how to explain it D:

My method of approach was to sand with 400-800-1000-2000. Spray bottle in hand spraying water every second/2. I spent about 5-8 minutes on each grit. Megs 105 applied with a drill bit hookup, Megs 205 polish applied w/ DA polisher. UV coating to wrap it up.

I'm actually surprised it came out looking like this. I thought those deep scratches were there to stay. It looked like dry, cracked skin.

You can also put a UV film protectant on it. Clear or tinted a bit. I may do that.

Best scratch /swirl / pinstripe removing method and product? Preferably something that isn't like a 15 step process. It will continue getting scratches as it's my camping rig so I'm not looking for a showroom finish

You mention tree branches so I'd suggest washing with 50% car soap 50% dawn mixture. Clay bar the car to get sap and whatnot off of the paint, then get meguires 205 polish. Apply with a DA polisher and you should get almost all of the swirls off.

From then on if you want to keep that chit clean then use a sealant or a ceramic coating (you can DIY its not hard) and avoid car washes.

Just ordered Cquartz TiO2 (non-UK) for my Bimmer. Can’t wait to polish it and put this stuff on. It should help tremendously, considering my car sits outside 24/7 in the heat.

Depends on the depth of the scratches and the condition of the paint. I think something like Griots Fast Correcting Cream would be better. It would remove more defects, has a long working time, and could probably be used as a 1-step polish. I’d look at Megs D300 as well. That is definitely a 1-step polish that will be more effective alone than m205.

Also, I’d be careful with Dawn. It’s been shown to not be very effective against wax/sealant/fallout removal and destroys your rubber seals/vinyl. I’d go for something else like Purple Power or a dedicated fallout removal soap.

Vss scratch and swirl remover did wonders for me today.

    Gave a good wash
    Dried
Claybar 2 passes each spot with maguire spray that came with it
    Maguire quick wax

Just did a quick job today and it worked really well. Might order a machine and ceramic coat and try to get it on next week. Truck lookin extra shiny. Forgot to take pics tho oh well.

There's still a few spots that need some real paint correction and the whole car probably another round of cleaning and polishing and stuff but it's better

FINALLY done with stage 2 polishing. For a minute, I thought they coated my BMW with liquid diamonds. I needed Megs Xtra Cut Microfiber pads and m100 polish to cut through it. Both are fantastic products, btw. Used m205 with Buff and Shine orange pads today. Those damn pads are nearly indestructible. Id pick those foam pads over Lake Country ANY day of the week.

Stage 3 is tomorrow (m205 + BNS Green Pads) and then I’m coating it with CQuartz TiO2.

Finally got around to cleaning up my company car this weekend.

    2 bucket wash
    Deconned with Gyeon Iron X
    Medium Adam"s clay mitt
1st step with Griot's Fast Correcting Cream on orange LC pads
2nd Step with Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish on white LC pads
Sealed with Adam's Spray Paint Sealant (leftover from a while ago and no longer available but very legit)
    Covered with CarPro Reload
    Topped with P&S Beadmaker

Overkill...maybe but I drive this bitch everyday as my office and put roughly 45k miles per year on it so I want it to resist bugs splatter and bird chit. Did not use a ceramic for that reason as well, also I don't pay for this and I'm not about to spend hours putting $100 worth of quality ceramic on a car that's sees so much highway time.

I always recommend cleaning the wheels before washing your vehicle. Cleaning wheels first will prevent brake dust and dirty water from splashing onto a clean car. After that you can use steam brush.
