I pushed too hard the first time and cracked the hell out of the cheap-ass bucket.

As long as you don't push too hard it'll sit about 2/3 down the bucket.

fuk, not what I wanted to hear. They (guards) are most effective when at the bottom of the bucket. Thought I could get off cheap with some $3 buckets from home depot.

I've read that they fit the Home Depot orange buckets and Lowes white buckets.

    Just measure them.

Brian, you should make some YouTube videos.

Did you post your detailing set up yet?

Chemical Guys order comes today and Adam's comes tomorrow, wish I had time to actually use the stuff now.

Can someone suggest how I keep my White Tundra from having dirt streaks. INB4 "Wash it. "

Whats happening is, where my rain guards are I have (over the years) managed to get some streaking that is IN the paint. I can claybar/polish it out and have used different sealers/waxes but so far it only lasts a month.. max.

It's driving me insane and as mentioned above I dont have the patience to stay on top of it like I should. I need a more long term solution.

BTW: i have taken it to some local "pros" and it ended with the same results. 1-2months tops.

Hey guys, do you recommend anything for hard water spots? My car got hit with a sprinkler and sat there for 3 days. I tried a a quick detailer with no results.

My grit guards don't fit all the way down in a HD bucket.

I don't have time really, most of my posts are from my phone and when I'm on the CPU I'm doing work stuff. This past week I've been on vacation, so I'm focusing on my cars and probably get my sister to bring her car over here.

I have not posted my setup. I'll try to take pictures within the next day or so.

    Hmmm...can you post a picture?

I'm not sure I'm understanding... Are the rain guards redirecting the water onto the same part of the paint everytime and then it sits?

    Try some diluted vinegar.

If that doesn't work, then you might have to clay it. But you might want to skip this step of you don't have a clay bar and go onto.....

Polishing...by hand is fine, but might take more time. Not sure how long they've been on, but if they have etched into the clear coat, then polishing is the only answer.

I'll try to take one this afteroon.

The water/dirt/grime runs down the exact same spots on the sides of the truck leaving dark streaks. The worst streaks are from the water that runs off the drip rails(roof) and the rain guards. They only come out if I claybar/polish.. need a way to help them from coming back soo fast.

Mine is not THIS bad.. but its the same idea. It looks just like dirt, but even if you wash it a "ghost" streak remains.

Chemical Guys is having a decent sale with codes right now.

Anything I should be looking at from them? I think Brian hates their glass and interior stuff. I think I have Honey Dew soap coming today. Just want to try various chemicals and see what works for me.

Only things I use from CG are their air freshners. They smell amazing (Especially Stripper Scent), but they don't last really long.

I mostly order from Autogeek and this place called www.autoality.com , I guess it's in a mall in PA. I've saved a **** ton of money using them. They have awesome sales.

I love the stripper scent. Smells like vanilla with a little cinnamon. Wife loves the leather and new car. I think the leather smells like an old baseball mitt thats been sitting in a horses ass.

The cherry is okay, but all cherry's really smell the same. Most female customers opted for Jasmine.

Tips on pads and compound following color sanding?

I wetsanded large fields on my project truck several years ago and buffed them (with great results), but left the roof of the cab dull. I'd like to polish it back out (I have a high speed orbital), but I dont remember what products I used.

The paint has no clear coat.

Ok...I get that from the draining system in the doors on my STI. It does this on my rocker panels.

I have a sealant, followed with a wax on my rocker panels and it makes everything easier to clean, but I keep up on it.

Do you know what your local detailers did?

I mostly order from Autogeek and this place called www.autoality.com , I guess it's in a mall in PA. I've saved a **** ton of money using them. They have awesome sales.
Interesting..never heard of that site. I like your mobile setup as well; wish I had time to go mobile, but lately I haven't really had time to do much.

Also, I have the Stripper Scent as well. Smells great and a lot of people like it.

All the rage right now are Microfiber pads. I think you would be fine with the M105-M205 two step.

M105 with a Microfiber cutting pad
M205 with a foam finishing pad

People rip Chemical Guys on Auto-geek

Id rather spend my money elsewhere regardless of deals. Auto-geek has %15 off no exceptions right now.

Their wheel cleaners, glass cleaners, glazes all suck. So, they wont get money from me anymore.

Look the right side of the red line, that's where I put a piece of tape to compare a side that's been worked, and one that has not.
The left side of the tape has been worked and as you see, I was able to remove all scratches, swirl marks and haze. The paint is flawless.

Looking at the hood of the car, you can see the hazing of the paint that has occurred over time.

Everything was going good. I expected to do whole car in about 10 hours, until it rained. I was only able to do a small spot. Still, feels good to finally starting the process to get the car looking like it should.

Just made a comment about this product on a FB post... So figured I'd bring it here too.

    Amazing Roll Off - http://www.autogeek.net/amazingrolloff.html

I use it for Engine bays and cleaning tires. If you've ever scrubbed your tires and it's still got a dingy dirty look to em. This will solve that. I've never gotten tires as clean as I can without using ARO.

I also like to protect the engine bay with 303 aerospace. It's what I used on the engine bay pics on the other page.
