$7 dollars for a Fuking Chicken?

I wanted to barbeque some split chickens this evening, so I went to the butcher shop. When he told me the price I said fuggit, and went to the super market. Same damn price. I swear the last lime I bought a chicken, they were about $3.50. I guess I am going to have to raise my own.

Yeah, my wife does all the grocery shopping, so I have been out of the loop. It is true feed prices have sky rocketed, but I can still feed out a calf, and have the kids at the local college butcher and package it for about $3.00 a pound.

Well, where I actually live atm (waaaaay south of ATL), I'd have to pay $6.99 for a horribly tasting, "injected", 2.5lb rotisserie chicken . And truth be told, I really don't like these type, regardless of the higher price/lower weight.

Serious question, if you live in the desert anyways why remain in California? I spent my time in California no more than five miles from the beach, take that away and I don't see the point.

We went to a Portuguese Churrasqueira tonight and got two whole cooked chickens, with roasted potatoes, rice and salad and it was $40 (takeout).

Only been to CA once. Flew into SFO, did Fisherman's Wharf (literally, bumped into Dom Deluise there), drove down Lombard St., and then headed up the coast to see redwoods and sequoias....where it was fukcing magnificent! I loved it.

A whole chicken for $6 and change is a very good price up here. Very good.

There are many times when, as someone else posted, the price of a cooked chicken is less than the price of a raw chicken, so I will buy a cooked one. I'll use it for chicken pot pie, or chicken and biscuits and gravy. But I like to have a raw chicken for that Sunday roast chicken.
