Bumping to post this update from Layne titled Press Release: UK High Court of Justice Issues Injunction Against Jason Blaha, just to set the record straight since people likely will happen upon this thread via Google searches for years to come.

The particulars of that case are grounded in English law, but many people in the fitness/supplementation/ guru industry are American, and American law is obviously different. One thing that I see from Layne's quote is that the judge found that Jason offered zero justification for his actions.
Cyberlibel is a real thing and many people don't grasp it.
This case with Layne and Jason hopefully will be a wake-up call, not only for the folks out there who rant on their own blogs, but also who allow others to comment. Yes, if you have a blog (or even a podcast or Youtube video) you better monitor your comments and deactivate messages that might be defamatory.
One of the key elements (at least under US law) for proving defamation is that the statement must be false. Statements of opinion are not considered false, so it would be wise if you are going to say something mean and possibly defamatory that you at least include "IMO" in your post.
I wonder whether Jason's attorneys would have been able to get the lawsuit dismissed if he had made it clear in his videos that everything he was saying was speculation and only his opinion. Who knows, because English law is different, but in the USA, he may have been in the clear if he had done that.

In fairness, I would have liked to actually read the judge's order, granting the injunction. Not saying that Layne is cherrypicking language, but it should be simple enough to make it available as a .pdf. I assume it is only a couple of pages. I am a little confused as to whether Jason offered some justification, but that the judge determined that it was not credible, or whether Jason really offered nothing.

Thanks for the Word doc.
Whoa. That is a lot more than just an injunction. It was foolish of Jason to stick his head in the sand about this, because now the judge has also issued a judgment for damages.
So, at some point in the future, when the docket allows, another judge will decide how much Jason will have to pay. My memory of the pleadings is that Layne was seeking damages from the defamation, and also attorneys' fees and costs. My guess is that this will be no less than $10,000.

He tried to play the system but the system played him. Very immature attacking Layne for no apparent reason other than to attract viewers. That's his channel consists of, regurgitated information and displays of how immature he is.
He is quite arrogant too, and for the life of me I have no idea why. He is nearly 40. Bald (no offence Masster!). Not in very good shape, even though he is constantly on hormones and other drugs. Unemployed. No children. Lives in a dainty flat. Doesn't appear to have many real life friends, although I am merely speculating based on what I've seen. If I was his friend I'd give him a serious wake up call and tell him to sort his life out.Sports Science & Health Undergraduate
