Homosexuality is currently thought in many academic circles to be genetic; as to whether or not gay marriage should be legal, that's a different story. Also, two gays won't produce physically/mentally abnormal children. Incest on the other hand is biologically deterred in most humans. Many studies have shown that people are actively turned-off/repulsed by the scent of family members as opposed to strangers in double blind scenarios. This is thought to be an active biological mechanism built into us in order to avoid incest and the consequences that come along with it.

The two scenarios are completely different. This is why retarded religious zealouts get laughed at in popular media. If you are against gay marriage then you should be able to give more intelligent reasons (which are certainly out there) other than "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!" and "First gay marriage, then brothers and sisters getting married, herp derp". But hell, most people are dumb as rocks, clearly...

There are far more legal complications associated with polygamy that are not present in the same-sex marriage argument. That's one of the main issues.

It's interesting, however, that polygamy is legal in most of the 3rd world while SSM is opposed. But SSM is supported in the 1st world, while polygamy is overwhelmingly opposed. They're pretty mutually exclusive in most countries.
