    Cinnamon good for you?

    I've discovered that cinnamon is very high in antioxidants and is supposed to be very healthy. Doesn't cost much either. Just 95 cents for a small container at Aldi. But now I've been reading that it's not all that safe, especially the variety that is most commonly available, which is the Cassia type. What I find strange is the seemingly contradictory advice on how much is safe. I've heard that if you're enjoying it in your food, then it's most likely at a level far too low to worry about it. Then I hear that the safe limit is only 1 teaspoon per day. Now I'm reading that it's only 1 gram per day. To get an idea of how much that is, a typical sugar packet that you can get at a fast-food place is 2-4 grams of sugar, and is very little. Now imagine only 1/4 that amount as cinnamon (which is a bit heavier) as being the limit of what is safe. It makes it sound as if it's not really safe except in trace amounts.

    High levels of antioxidants aren't necessarily useful to the body. All things in moderation almost certainly applies here. If you like cinnamon, have a moderate amount of it but don't treat it like a supplement.

    Ceylon cinnamon is very easy to find in Mexican grocery stores. They usually have bundles of it in a bulk bin. The difference between Ceylon and Cassia is the Ceylon is kind of papery and looks like a rolled up scroll, whereas the Cassia is very tough and is thicker. You can make a nice Ceylon tea by simply boiling a half a stick or so, not for too long tho.

    This. I eat it daily because I love it and it certainly helps me enjoy my food, but idk if it's giving me some secret extra gains or anything. The bottom line seems to be that, unless you're taking massive doses in the form of some sort of cinnamon supplement for God knows why, then you're gonna be fine OP.
