Cool Pure calisthenics vs. Crossfit: which is more functional?

going to workout in 2 hours after my taco bell digests and I'm not bloated anymore

what is going to give me the best all-around gains for everyday life?

I'm not looking to be IFBB big or a world class powerlifter, just want to look good and have a solid physique along with above average strength and still be able to run a few miles and succeed in sports

would be stoked if I could reach this physique in a few months

Compound movements phaggot. Given your skinny frame I'd recommend some calisthenetic workouts (pushups, pullups, dips, bodyweight squats) to get some initial muscle before you start lifting heavy weights. And make sure you are eating heaps...

but stop eating your roommates food you f*ck

and also LOL if you're still 118 pounds it will take you a lot longer than a few months to reach that physique. Try a few years.

I would pick Calisthenics over CrossFit any day. Calisthenics is using your own heavyweight to achieve great muscle mass and endurance with no instructors while Cross Fit is were you injure yourself by lifting lot of weights without any progression model with highly untrained instructors.

Just look up the way CrossFit people do pull up, they do kip pull up which is not even a legit pull up. When we, Calisthenics practitioners, do muscle up they do kip pull up. Calisthenics is one of the best way to build functional strength.

Definitely calishenics. Crossfit is so far from "functional" strength its unreal.
If you're going to add in weight, get on a solid program that involves these exercises 2x a week which are about as functional as you can get:

    Bench Press(incline dumbbell bench)
    Overhead Press(dumbbell military press)
    Squat(front squats)
    Deadlift(stiff legged deadlifts)
    Farmers Walks
    Pull Ups(and every variant)
Pendlay Rows(or any other row variation)
    Pushing/Pulling a Sled

    What isn't functional whatsoever is:
    Hand stand walking
    Kipping Pull Ups
Rarely bench pressing in any form
    Group training
"Random" workouts with random exercises that have no business being put together with made up, random rep schemes against a clock

Olympic movements are very functional, no doubt but they are advanced exercises completely unnecessary to be "functionally fit" or to build a good physique. Even with static barbell movements(those above) you need to learn from someone that can show you proper form, olympic lifts are that much more technical and require extensive flexibility. You don't need them.

These cops, military and firefighters that do this bull**** are wasting their time trying to up their FRAN when they could be outside running, pushing a sled, running up a hill and doing basic compound lifts that they will use every day they go to work. Total joke.

Thumbs up Can't you just combine both?

In my gym - sparta fit bulgaria, we combine crossfit, calisthenics and functional training

It is just awesome and never boring!

In my opinion, calisthenics is way too slow and technical, and very hard at beginner levels.

Combined with the dynamics from crossfit - more as calisthenics as a pre workout, technique practice and muscle development, as crossfit will give the speed, fun, sweat as a hiit workout (high intensity interval training).

crossfit is the gayest most retarded thing in fitness in recent years but you would probably get better results from it because you'll be able to get consistent progressive overload.

Why do people think lifting actual weights will make you look like an IFBB pro, while flopping around like a dead fish will give you funcional, everyday strength? If you want to get strong, lift weights. You won't look like an IFBB pro without buying an entire pharmacy (and even then, it's probably never going to happen for you).
    Take it easy Christian
