    Grunting in the gym

Why the phuck do people have such a problem with it. The people who do are always massive phaggots too. I make plenty of noise on heavy sets and have been 'told' by people weighing 120lbs to be quiet, **** doesn't end well for them.

It's been shown in studies that making noise increases power output by about 10%, why not do it?

Thoughts? How much noise do you guys make when lifting and do you think it's acceptable when lifting heavy as ****?

I have no problem with it. If you're trying hard you're most likely gonna make some noise.

Stop worrying about what other people think. Train for yourself.
You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it aint about how hard you hit. Its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. Thats how winning is done! Now if you know what youre worth than go out and get what youre worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers sayin, you aint where you wanna be because of him or her or anybody!"

Not that difficult to grunt silently. Do you really need to raise your voice just so the entire gym knows you're hardcore?

Of course and yes there is a limit, you do not have to exaggerate the shout or grunt.

I seriously wouldn't give a chit since half the guys in my gym throw heavy dumbbells to the floor when they are done with it. Not only the loud thump but every time it is done it damages the dumbbell slowly and they become loose.

    Don't yell

Don't grunt on every rep of an 8-12 rep set

    Be reasonable

I am doing 8-5-3 and I grunt on my 3 sometimes, but it's not forced and obviously unintentional b/c my face is red and my eyes are coming out of my head.

I dont understand why alot of people out there have an issue with people grunting trying to get their last couple of reps in, i definately think that it does help. I'll often grunt when i want to squeeze in another rep or two and everytime atleast one person will be looking at be like im some sort of freak, it shouldnt be a problem as long as people dont mistake you for Goku.

This. I know a guy who takes it a bit overboard and it sounds like he is orgasming and crying at the same time on like first reps of every set of arms and legs.
    Sounds ridiculous.
Obviously you need to breathe and when you exert air it will grunt/moan/make noise. I do this on my heavy leg presses only.
It's the same as the kiai in martial arts. You make a loud exerted noise on your power blows to increase power/rage.

If I have to yell "light weight" mid set to pump out a few extra reps I'm going to do it. There is a point though, where it is just unnecessary. I saw this one guy who was probably about 200lbs front squatting 135lbs and was screaming every single rep start to finish...I almost lost my ****

I have absolutely no problem with grunting at all. I grunt when going for a max or squeezing those last few reps out.

Grunting is okay, most of the time it shows that the person actually cares more about their lift rather than what others might think of it, which is how it should be. Yellers... on the other hand... there's no need for that, I would think it's counterproductive in some cases to be honest.

I only do grunts in exercises with big weights. Such as a deadlift, squat, stuff like that. Plus, I've got the bodybuilder in my gym watching me, so I'm safe.

It annoys me and when I don't use music it bothers me while I'm doing my set. Its unecessary and feels like they are just trying to draw attention.

The gym i go is supposed to be one of those hardcore bodybuilding gyms. soo when a skinny phaggot comes in they think they need to prove their manliness by grunting and screaming on every rep of their ****ing 1 plate squat. Then there's the big guys that actually shout something like 'oh yeh baby i got this **** light weight' after completing a hard rep. It don't really annoy me because im usually 'in the zone' and it's not like im doing a fkin exam so i can't see how something like someone yelling could distract you from your lift, unless you're a pussy..

Last night an overweight dreamer bulk Manlet, (I'm aware if the fact I'm a Manlet too yes, Ty men), was grunting at hella loud on his 405 deadlifts while using the smith machine.

He dropped the weight at the top of the lift, almost snapped up the smith machine then proceeded to lat spread and stare me down after he dropped it.

I started to walk right at him, and I guess he thought I was going to say something, but I was just getting to the calf machine behind him lol.
