Protein scoop weight doesn't match nutrition label?

Anyone ever find that the mass of the scoop of their protein doesn't match the nutrition label? Not gonna name any companies directly but I found some have a difference as big as 15g~ :\

Scoops are just an approximation.. however 15g is a pretty wide margin, please do tell...

obviously there's a margin for error, but 30%?? Should I follow the scoop or the mass?

One of the really loved proteins has this. Not a big deal though, just go by the weight. I put my scoop on my scale and tare it, then I add enough in my scoop to meet the grams listed per serving, and eyeball it from that point forward as I have an idea of how filled the scoop should be.

I actually prefer perfectly measured scoops which is rare, but will take a big scoop over one that needs a heaping scoop, the heaping scoops get messy as hell.

Really? I've found Cellucor to be the only one where a level scoop actually weighs out to what the label says.

Personally I've found both ON & Met-Rx scoops run on the small side.

I would typically agree, but at 15g, when most scoops run around 34-36 grams, we are talking about over 40% overage... it adds up...

lets just say Protein A is 150 calories, 34g a scoop, 24g protein and has 52 servings in a tub... if you were to scoop 48g per scoop (14g heavy) you end up only getting 36.83 scoops out of a tub, each scoop would have 212 calories instead of 150, you would get 34g of protein per scoop etc, etc.

I may be a little anal checking my scoop sizes every time I open up a new bottle, but this is exactly why.

By the way, are we supposed to weight both the scoop and the powder or do we have to subtract the weight of the scoop, from the total weight of the powder plus the scoop?

Subtract the weight of the scoop itself. So weigh the scoop first. Then weigh with the powder and scoop and subtract the scoop weight.

Why would the weight of the scoop matter? Nutrition facts go by weight of the powder. You're not consuming the plastic scoop, are you?

To the OP: There are quite a few factors you have to consider, though. Powder does settle quite a bit, and also a 'packed' scoop vs. just taking a 'fluffed' scoop will also make a big difference. Shake the tub, and then take a normal scoop without packing it down tightly against the side, and see if that makes a difference. Being off by 15g is quite a bit, though.

My Aminocore BCAA's suggested serving size of 1 scoop says it is supposed to be 10.5 Grams, yet the scoop supplied inside the container says 18cc. I searched online and 18cc = 18 Grams. So should I take just over half of a scoop? Am I reading it wrong?
