Sup, so I'm really confused about which type of routine is optimal for me, been lifting for about 6 months using the following split routine with low volume/high frequency(5x a week):
- Progressive overload is my base
A - back/tris/delts:
Deadlifts 3x 12, 8, 6(each set I increase the weight)
Chins 3x 12, 8, 6
One-Arm Dumbbell Rows 3 x 12, 8, 6
Dips 2 x 12, 8
Skull Crushers 2 x 8, 8
DB Press 3 x 12, 8, 6
B - chest/bis/forearms
DB Press 3x 12, 8, 6
Incline DB Press 3 x 12, 8, 6
Incline flyes 3 x 12, 8, 6
Preacher curls 2 x 12, 8
Reverse curls 2 x, 8, 8
C - leg/delts
DB Press 3 x 12, 8, 6
Squats 3 x 12, 8, 6
Leg Press 3 x 12, 8, 6
Leg Extensions 3 x 12, 8, 6
Seated Calf Raises 3 x fail.
Stand Calf Raises 3 x fail.
Gains are ok, main goal is to gain size, I'm 6'1 187lbs(85 kilos), now the real question is.. Is my routine as effective as a full body routine such as SS, 5x5 etc ?

If your main goal is too put on some size then you definately cant go wrong with a full body routine. I would say 3x a week or look at a upper/ lower split. Mainly concentrate on getting the weight up on your compound lifts and add accessory work as a side not to your major muscle groups. Basiclly deadlift, squat and bench are where you want to do the most work then a good OHP. Arms are a side note you can throw in an exercise if you feel you need it but if your going heavy on the main 3 your arms will be spent too.

A FB routine will likely be effective. Most people can run FB routines for close to 2 years of consistent lifting. Most people that have been lifting before starting a FB have not been lifting effectively enough to eliminate its utility. JasonDB gives a good rule of thumb in his JasonDB novice 5x5 for what constitutes a beginner that would be suited for a FB routine - if your 5RM for squat/deadlift/bench is less than 315/405/225.
AllPro's Beginner Routine and JAsonDB novice 5x5 are two solid FB programs that get the important compound lifts and mix in accessory exercises. Since you have been lifting, try out JasonDB's novice 5x5. Its a longer workout but has the apporpriate volume for people with some gym days under their belt.Muscles For Marriage: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=166041651
