I don't sell anything on eBay but I do sell on an app called Mercari. They pretty much protect the seller and make it almost impossible to screw over the seller or get your money back. I buy designer fragrance oils wholesale and then flip them in smaller amounts for a profit. I do this on Mercari and via PayPal. Word of mouth as traveled and now I got peeps from across the nation plus Canada ordering from me.
I also use my own product and don't buy from department stores anymore. It's cheaper for me plus free advertisement. Imagine the look on people's faces when I tell them they can save hundreds of dollars on a Creed fragrance that smells exactly the same in perfume oil form. I even learned how to make perfume/cologne sprays for those that want perfume alcohol in their fragrances.
It's a matter of supply and demand and my passion for fragrances just happen to be a money maker for me. Everybody wins really in my case.Last edited by niospecv; 09-27-2016 at 06:02 AM.

I'm interested in the vids. Make some more and pass your wisdom onto others without giving away your secrets
Thats a pretty interesting story. Strong sense of smell?
I've just finished reading this thread. It took me a couple of weeks but I've learned a lot from you guys. Its great to see people start off small and grow to such a large size.
Are any of the OGs still active?

I'm gonna be buying and selling.
I'll be using both Ebay and Amazon. I'll have another couple of sites that I'll use too. I'm going to try to have several different fronts going at once. Hitting more potential customers all at the same time.
I plan on starting off small and low-balling adds that have potential.

I'll be the guy to bump this thread. Lot of good info.
Nothing to be nervous about if what you're selling is good and legit. I quit my job almost 3 years ago and do a full time eBay gig now (used items within a specific niche). Yes, it does suck sometimes with returns from idiot buyers and I take a lost from an item here and there, but the majority of time the buyers are legit and no problems. Of course the fees suck and shipping doesn't help, but if you do it right, there's money to be made.. I don't want to make this my 'career' but the last 3 years and probably the next couple, it's doing me good.

I got a couple ******* buyers months back and stopped using ebay for a long time. Apparently, they were tracking to see if i'd improve my rating but i just simply wasn't using ebay anymore so they told me that since they didn't see an improvement I would no longer be able to sell. Any idea on what i should do? Can i just create a new account?

I've pretty much stopped my business because of the $1.50 listing fee. It's ridiculous.
Yes the first 40 listings of the month are free but that's nothing. If you want to make money from Ebay you need to list hundreds of items at least.
Plus if your item doesn't sell in 1 month then you have to fork out another $1.50 just to list it again.
I'm now forced to keep less than 40 items in my store and try and sell them all by next month.
What a shame and what a rip off it is to spend $1.50 just to put the item up for 1 month.

If it takes longer than 30 days to sell an item then you are selling the wrong items.
Yes eBay Customer service sucks mainly because they give zero phuks about freezing Money and giving it to scammers but with the right items the pros outweigh the cons.
Rip to the eBay but and flip thread...literaly changed my life, I'm gonna miss you.Misc resident ETH bag hodlr.

I understand a lot of you guys are trying to substitute day job level of income by selling. Because of this I hear a lot of negativity towards buying from thrift/auctions/garage sales etc.......and sellin
However, for someone who is just trying to NET an extra 400-500/month would it be very capable and realistic to do so going out and finding stuff cheap (physically & locally) and re-selling online?

I would consider 400-500/month easy as long as you are willing to put the work in.
It is "Work" but overtime like with anything else it becomes easier.
Where's the negativity about sourcing from those places?
You can do very well by just hitting those three places. The money might not be as steady but it's there to be made and fairly easy if you put the "Work" in.Misc resident ETH bag hodlr.

I was selling used Ghurka products, leather wallets and bags, very high end Made in USA stuff that business people like. Its hard to find good deals on them because every is looking to make money by selling them. I think I sold 12-15 items and only made a $200 profit. Wasnt worth the hassle and the money being tied up for 2 months for $200.
I quit lol.PUBG - X1

Just accept the return. It's not worth wasting time fighting a case that you're 99% likely to lose. Instead focus on activities that produce a positive cash flow.
Always evaluate what you're selling in terms of how likely you are to experience problems with buyers. Some things just aren't worth the money.
