Should I eat more meat or fruits.

I've recently (last 6 months) started body building. I'm still trying to figure out my diet plan. Right now I eat about 1500 calories a day (my goal is 1200 but I almost always exceed it), workout every 2-3 days and eat mostly fruits and veggies. Should I reduce my fruit intake (5-6 servings/day) to incorporate more meat? I know that meat is good for muscle gain, but is it good for fat loss also? I don't eat gluten nor lactose since I am intolerant to those (I have a very sensible digestif system).

Right now, my diet plan is cereal for breakfast, lots of fruits during the day for snacks and a salad for supper with meat every 2-3 days, then some more fruits after supper.

    Thanks for the help.

Why is your goal 1200? Did you just pull that number out of a fitness mag or what? It can't be based on any sort of rational calculation - you need more calories than that just to function properly. What is your workout routine? How many grams of proteins and fats are you eating per day? Meat won't help you grow muscles if you are not eating in a calorie surplus and lifting properly.

You are not getting enough protein I'm sure - you should be eating around .75 - 1g per lb of body weight. You need to check this out to calculate your needed calories and macros - http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=121703921

1500 is even far too low...im bulking and will be for the next 7 months...im at 2100cals a day...you need calories and protein to build muscle...your BMR is most likely near 1200cals which is how much you need if you were in a coma...EAT! dont be afraid to!

You need to eat more overall and you also need way more protein. Go to the nutrition section and read the stickies on how to calculate your macros. I have similar digestive issues as you, so I assure you it can be done.

Seems low in your cal intake for sure! Agreed that you need to be eating more protein throughout the day especially if increased muscle mass is your goal. I would suggest limiting your fruit intake to the morning and post/pre workout. Those Insulin spikes can be detrimental towards your goal.
