IIFYM has been taken way out of its meaning. How I look at IIFYM; eat 90% clean foods that are good for your body nutritionally/healthy, the other 10% something that you enjoy eating that may not be healthy or have nutritional benefits(as long as it fits your macros and doesn't go over the limit).

I've been seeing everyone taking IIFYM as its some sort of diet that is entirely eat what the hell you want whenever. That's just not right, when you grow old your gonna be facing problems! (Not you OP)

I facepalm every time an IIFYM discussion pops up. Most people do not have the faintest fucking clue how the whole IIFYM thing came about. Turning the IIFYM acronym into a diet was something that never should have happened, but apparently that's what people have the strong tendency to do. Unfortunately, this makes people automatically define it as a free-for-all as long as the macros are hit. Here's a little history lesson for the unaware: IIFYM was nothing more than a shorthand answer to the dozen threads a day in the Nutrition forum that went something like,

"Can I have cheese on a cut?"

"Can I have bread on a cut?"

"Can I have peanut butter when cutting?"

"Are bananas okay to have on a cut?"

"Are whole eggs okay to have on a cut?"

"Is white rice okay to have when cutting?"

"Can I have white potatoes on a cut?"

^^Stuff like that, where the answer is, yeah, fit it in your macros & you'll be fine..... And then people invented a damn diet out of that answer, then all went to hell from there.

Personally I do IFFYM , of course I know my macros to maintain, bulk, cut... I got the physique wanted, but still not satisfy.
Why am I at 155lb? because I want to powerlift with low body weight ratio.

I'm pretty much agreeing with you btw, IFFYM was taken way out of context. It is not just an eat whatever the fuk you want diet. The majority of people doing IFFYM as a diet do not take things such as; sugars, saturated fats, and micro-nutrients. So as long as things continue that way, IFFYM will never work as a true clean bulking or cutting diet.

That's not to say it doesn't work at all, because you can bulk on it, it's just not optimal for lean mass gain if your not taking everything into account
