Of the ILBs I posted I think I like what I see on highlights from Ogletree and Reddick the best. I think they are the more electric players of the bunch. However, Te'o and Minter just seem to have great instincts and now where the play is going and where to be. I think if Ogletree is there you have to take him even though he has the off the field stuff. He also isn't as technically sound as Minter or Te'o but the upside is huge.

WRs, I like Tavon Austin and Keenan Allen as the two best players. Allen looks faster on tape than than I thought. Hunter and Patterson really don't blow me away.

DE, I think that after the first two guys are gone Kawan Short looks most impressive.

For the draft I would prefer we go defense first with either a Lb such as Ogletree or DT like Williams.

There are tons of solid receivers in the draft that we can take later on to bolster our wr corps a little more. Robert woods etc etc.

I liked the cassel move bc he can help ponder with knowledge and experience and also hopefully play better thru competition.

It would be awesome if we could somehow get fitz back to MN even though its super unlikely that would be sweeet.

Also think we need to resign Winfield.

Edit: Please no Teo or Mathieu

Teo is just weird and Mathieu could maybe bounce back but not worth the risk

well, we're doing the mock draft, so I won't give things away too much, but if you're looking for a MLB, Reddick, Te'o and Minter will be much better than Ogletree. Ogletree is so much like Lawrence Timmons I swear they're clones. They fly around the field like missiles, they can drop into coverage, they explode through the line of scrimmage, but DUMB AS A FUKCING BRICK with poor instincts. They're at their best as WLBs (or in Timmons' case, a WILB)

Out of the ILBs you listed, I'd go Te'o, Minter, Reddick, Ogletree for MLB

Tavon Austin and Cordarrelle Patterson have games which most resemble Percy Harvin's. One of the things you want with your WR is a guy who can stretch the field. Austin and Patterson are both deep threats. A guy to consider later on is Kenny Stills also, as he is a burner. When you have Adrian Peterson on the field, a deep threat makes him that much better because it pulls someone out of the box. Those guys also have joker-style RB/return guy ability too

Yeah, Ogletree is a physical freak but I noticed that he's not a sound tackler and like you said lacks the instincts that the other three have. I think I still like Minter as #1 MLB in this draft but it seems freak athletes tend to go higher than they should. As for Harvin, he's not a deep thread. Never was while with the Vikes even with Favre throwing him the ball. It's just not his game. That's partially because he's not a good route runner. From what I've seen of Patterson he's fast and shifty but watching tape he looks slower than his 40 time to me. Keenan Allen is actually the type of WR the Vikes need. They don't have a bigger WR that you can go up and get a ball and win the physical fights for the ball while in the air. Jarius Wright can be the Percy Harvin in the Vikes offense (obviously not as good) but right now we don't have the big X WR. That's also why I like Justin Hunter for the Vikes because he can be that type of WR.

Obviousy, if Tavon Austin is on the board you have to take him and he'd be a great replacement for Harvin otherwise any of the other three I mentioned would probably make a good X in the Vikes offense.

There are probably 10 WRs in this draft that can contribute a lot for the Vikings right away, it's a pretty deep draft class for WRs. So, we probably don't have to take one in the 1st though if Tavon Austin falls into your lap you have to take him.

If I had my pick I'd probably take Minter or Te'o over Ogletree as I think they are more likely to be starters right away and have less risk involved. Otherwise if you can get Reddick at the end of the 2nd round that'd be a great pick up as well.

Personally, I like Kawan Short a lot more than Williams.

That's strange given nobody esle is reporting it and 93x isn't exactly known for breaking sports news.

Minter improves 40 time to 4.67, pretty solid for a MLB:

As most of us know, Jared Allen had a messed up shoulder last year, he underwent surgery for it. They also performed a surgery on his knee. They said hould be fine for training camp, but who knows!

People are dumbasses. With that type of injury you lose a lot of strength in the arm. Then you add on a knee slowing him down and no wonder it looked like he was a step slow this year at times. If you can't extend your arms and push off the OL because of a bum shoulder it's going to slow you down.

The only issue to watch now is if he becomes injury prone.

12 sacks is very good anyway. Most years that puts you top 8 in sacks. Pretty good when you have a half strength arm and bum knee and you can still put up top 8 stats.

Jared Allen still had a decent year last year. He was banged up but got 12 sacks. I think most people feel let down because of the moster year he had before. He will start slowing down but is still Top 5 in the league and I think he is paid the right mount for the amount we get out of him.

    McShay's latest draft:
    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft...und-mock-draft

Vikes take a defensive end because "They lack any depth behing Robison and Allen". WTF? Never heard of Everson Griffen? Sure after Griffen it gets iffy but I don't see them using a first roudner on a DE unless Mingo or Ansah fall into our laps.

Atleast he has them taking Keenan Allen at #25 which sounds plausible.

I dont understand why they would want to take a DE over a WR, DT, or LB in the first 2 picks

I could see it if there was a big gap in value at that point but I think there are several players in an area of greater need that are also good values at that spot.

I think they will probably pick up a DE in the mid to late rounds for depth but they're not using a 1st rounder on a DE.

You lost me at McShay. I'm hoping they pick up some help at WR and in the secondary.

Yeah, I don't ever put much stock in any of these "draft analysist" on any of the websites because in all honesty I doubt they know much more about football that us regular rubes. There are a few guys I pay attention to like Pat Kirwan who actually worked in the front office.
