This comeback was great for Kirk and the offense. 29/35, 3 TDs. It's clear the offense HAS to get Cook going early to open up the rest of the offense. Once they did that they scored on every 2nd half drive I believe.
Defense was awful 1st half, but played much better late. A little too bend, don't break for me when it was late in the 4th, but they made the stop when they needed.
Unfortunately, Seattle is next up on the schedule. Luckily, it's after the bye. Still going to be a huge challenge. Packers have the 49ers next week which will be huge for the NFC North if they lose.New England Patriot

Kirk obviously made some nice throws, but I give credit to the OC Stefanski for finding a way to produce on offense when the running game was completely shutdown. Taking some longer shots down field kind of put the Denver D on their heels in the 2nd half, which led to some big coverage gaffes (see the go ahead TD by Rudy).
Gave up too many big plays on defense, but good lord we were the walking wounded out there. TWO backup safeties (Kearse and Sendejo) were the starters the whole 2nd half after Harrison Smith tweaked his hamstring or something. Keep in mind Sendejo was just signed off the damn street too. Also, I saw quite a few missed one-on-one tackles Sunday, which is very uncharacteristic of our defense.
The bye coming at a good time to get some these guys back healthy.Epic Beard Man crew

Besides the defense making so many mistakes in the first half, my frustration actually has been Stefanski and the play calling trying to get too fancy and cute which leads them to be too conservative which leads to wasted drives. The predictable 3rd and 1 with the CJ Ham run, getting stuffed up the middle when running prior to that was also getting stuffed, and calling plays with the primary routes being very short. That killed them in the KC game and was the reason the offense was terrible on the first half. If they are going to be competitive with the 49ers, Seahawks, and other top teams, they need to make every drive count and not hold themselves back.
Don't mis-interpret the above with thinking I'm saying they need to run and throw deep non-stop. No, just basically more open like they were in the second half of the DEN game and in the Giants, Eagles, and Lions games. Those were good offensive showings and the play calling gets too "cute" and conservative against good defenses like the Bears.Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

Well fwiw, I think it was obvious coming in that our game plan was to run the ball and throw a bunch of screens. Remember Thielen is out, so we are a bit limited as far as down field play-makers right now. When neither the ground game or screens worked---Stefanski was able to come up with something different. I liked the way the ball was spread around. Guys like Conklin, Irv Smith, Bisi Johnson, etc. all making some plays. That is how you win when your stars are out.

Like I said, my frustration is when they do it and it doesn't work, it takes an entire half to do it. The second half wasn't necessarily a bunch of deep shots. The first TD drive was over 10 plays but being efficient in early downs. The bomb to Diggs is what opened it up the rest of the way, but that was the only bomb. I don't think it's unreasonable to think they should be calling plays that go 10 yards or more when you're faced with 3rd and 10 or 3rd and 15.
Love the fight in the team! But the coaching staff needs to be better at making quicker adjustments.Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

I think isn't only 1/2 game back
Kirk has been playing very well. I'm waiting to see how he does at Sea after the bye. I've been very critical of Kirk since he came in. If he can beat Sea at Sea and look decent, I'll officially jump on the wagon at that time.
Agreed, at least we make adjustments at halftime these days. Years went by where the Vikings could not even do that. The coaches should get the game ball from yesterday.

Agree that Seattle is a tough place to play and Wilson's Seattle offense is one of the best in the business. But defensively, Seattle is not very good (~24th in both yards and points). So Cook should be able to get going--which really doesn't give Kirk much of an excuse.
I am much more worried about our defense that game. Rhodes and Hughes CANNOT be trusted in man coverage at this point. Both Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris coming off of injuries. Waynes tends to run hot and cold. Tbh, Sendejo was the only guy who showed up in the first half yesterday (offense or defense). Pass rush was not effective vs Denver, and while their QB is athletic--he isn't in Wilson's world for mobility and accuracy when throwing on the run. So I think our chance there will be somehow beating Seattle in a shootout......Epic Beard Man crew

Agreed. Coming out of their bye is going to be the best thing for the Vikings. Having a healthy Thielen will be huge. After the Denver game, I think the coaching staff is going to work on getting creative for Cook to do his thing because the offense doesn't work if he's not getting involved.

Its a combo of what he has been doing since the Bears game and what he does at Sea. Kirk needs to play well at Sea for me to fully jump on the wagon, not just a win. Say Cook runs for 200 yards and the D shuts down Sea (LOL Yes I know) you can't put that win on Kirk. Basically I'm looking for a continuation of what he has been doing but doing it against a top tier team, on the road in prime time. If he can do that I would say the Vikes can beat anyone anywhere. Until that, I'm not sold. The Vikings (& Kirk his whole career) historically fall apart against good teams, especially on the road in prime time. This game is huge for both teams, almost has that playoff feel to it.
