    No thanks Jeff LOL.
    Credit cards are essential, IMO.

Sometimes expenses come up that you cannot pay for with just the money that's in your checking account, and you kinda need to spend the money immediate.

When ordering stuff online a credit card is definitely the safer/preferred vs a debit card.

It's good for your credit score to charge/pay off.

So if your car breaks down and you don't have the money immediately available to fix it, and you need your car to get to work, your solution is to start saving money so you can afford to fix your car.

What money will you save, when you can't get to work to earn your paycheck?

We aren't all you, Lu. Most people cannot live alone and stay home all the time, never working, and walk anywhere they need to go, or take public transit.

Not nearly as much as Visa/Mastercard.

And you don't earn anything for using PayPal.

And I'm not sure but I don't think you have the same protection with them you do with a credit card.

AND that doesn't address any of my other points.

What happened to borrowing money from your friends or relatives? I'm sure you know people that can trust you. I've never borrowed anything from anybody till today, but that's because I'm awesome.

What's wrong with public transportation? It beats driving, and in case you're stuck in a jam, you can always get out of the bus/cab, walk a little and then hire another one. I've done this and I lol @ the people sitting in their cars.

All the big boys like eBay and amazon accept Paypal. I wouldn't buy something from a random site that I don't trust. The only time I purchased something from a 'random site' was when I knew the site owner.

It's an option, but it isn't always the best option.

Borrowing money from somebody can have an affect on the relationship. And it can take time. And it requires that they have the money to loan you. Possibly right now, with no delay. That won't always be the case for everybody.

For starters a LOT of people live where there is no public transportation. Or they need to go places that are not conducive to public transportation. Perhaps they need to take a child (or children) to school and to day care and then go to work, and then pick them up, and it is not physically possible to do all of those things on time with public transportion. If there is even public transit where they live.

Your own personal online buying habits different significantly from a lot of other people's. I almost never buy anything on eBay, and while I do use Amazon a lot, on a $ amount basis, I order more from other places than I do from Amazon.

And no matter who you are ordering from, if you are using a card you are putting that card's information out there in cyberspace. This is safer with a debit card than a credit card.

But please, continue to explain to me why your personal decision based upon your own personal choices on how to live your life necessarily applies to every other person in every conceivable situation in the world.

This is the best discussion we can come up with?

    No wonder Shack is DOA.

I was merely giving you options that worked well for me. You can either listen to me or you can do what you like. I never said you have to do as I say. LOLZ.

I said, "A credit card is also used to track everything you purchase and then your information is sold to third-party *******s who spam you with their sh*t.", which is true. I still get spammed from time to time with various offers from f*cktard companies I've never even heard of. The worst was when some organization called me and asked for a donation. I politely told them I can't help them. Lol, I'm not Bill Gates.

P.S. I'm the only one trying to keep this thread going. If it wasn't for me, we'd still be stuck with Shack X.

I have 3 credit cards. 1 business, 2 personal. My credit is perfect.

Credit Cards are only a problem if you misuse them. If you are a compulsive spender, than yes, maybe they aren't a great idea, but you should have one in case some kind of emergency arises.

What if your car breaks down and it's going to be 1000 bucks to fix it? You might not have an extra 1000 in the bank. This is the type of situation a credit card comes in handy.

I use paypal, but only with my credit card info. I would never give my bank account information to anyone online. To me, that's a way bigger risk than a credit card.

    Angry

In rural Pennsylvania, a kindergarten girl was suspended for making a “terroristic threat” after she told another girl that she planned to shoot her with a pink Hello Kitty toy gun that bombards targets with soapy bubbles.

At Roscoe R. Nix Elementary School in Maryland, a six-year-old boy was suspended for making the universal kid sign for a gun, pointing at another student and saying “pow.” That boy’s suspension was later lifted and his name cleared.

Drugs don't make you take it. I've also experimented with a variety and am not an addict to any of them (except maybe caffeine).

I also have quite a large credit limit and my spending doesn't sway based on my limit. My spending is based on my income and my financial responsibilities.

But yes, some people can not handle the responsibility of a credit card and have the mindset that if the credit card will get approved, they have the money to cover it. You are often times provided enough rope to hang yourself. It is up to you if you tighten the noose around your neck or not.

Well, I just believe you should only buy what you deserve, and if you're using a credit card, you are borrowing money from someone else. I don't like doing that.

All that crazy spending was done when I used to be a retard. I just started making a lot of money and I didn't know what to do with it. So, I started blowing it away. That was my fault and my fault only. Perhaps I'll be responsible if I get one now, but I'm against the idea of owning a credit card. It may be useful to some (car-breaking-down example) but I'm doing fine without it (yah, even when I had a job. Cash works like a charm).

Some people I know purchase everything with credit cards, but carry zero balance to the next month (they always completely pay it down before the next statement).

I used to, over the recent past I used credit cards to float myself until I got over here and was operating in the black again. It wasn't the best idea, but it was a workable one. I fully intend to pay off all of my credit cards and go back to carrying no balance I couldn't pay off at any time with my savings (save for emergencies that come up, such as what Farles brought up, which is a very real issue when one has home, vehicle, family, etc).

I'd always try to make the payments on time (they gave me 45 days, after which the interest rates were quite high), but sometimes I'd miss them. I ended up paying lots of interest two or three times.

Do you guys have a collection centre over there? That's what we had here and it was open from 10:00 to 13:00 (Mon-Sat). I'd miss payments due to waking up late (out till 4 AM, drinking).

Irresponsibility allows people to get themselves into all sorts of different troubles

But seriously, we mostly pay our credit cards online. Some people probably do it hte old fashion way and mail in checks, but I don't anybody that doesn't just pay online out of their bank/checking account

I'll just use PayPal. I reckon there's still some money in there. May not be much, but I can easily buy her a Big Mac or two.
