Anybody else think it's a little incongruous that we make such a huge deal out of a handful of injuries and deaths in a bombing, but no one is up in arms about how many people die each year due to car accidents?

I have a feeling if we treated car deaths (or heart disease, or etc etc) like we treated those bombers (btw, fantastic job to everyone involved!), we'd probably solve those issues pretty quickly as well.

ive been in court and seen people have to face a dui charge. there is no bargaining down to a lesser degree. it costs a lot of money and time as well.

How does that work? Do the DUI fellows have to spend a single night in jail? It's like that here. If you are caught driving under the influence, you will have to spend time in jail. You can't bribe the cops/try to buy your way out. That's a very good thing.

one can get bailed out, but yeah, usually they spend the night in jail, then make bail. then court. huge fine, and prob plus community service. oh, and loss of license.

There is a little bargaining, but not a ton. If it is your first, and you didn't harm anyone else, etc, you can try to get the DUI reduced to a reckless driving (still a misdemeanor, but not as bad), but that is about it. Also, as stated, costs lots of money when everything is said and done. Having to pay for transportation while you don't have a license, paying to take all of the counseling and programs they require to have the chance to get a license back.

It wasn't a fun experience.

reckless driving is a bad one to get. 5 points. and idk the costs for fines and such. ive had 2 careless drivings; i would take them over most tickets. in nj, we have "unsafe driving", which is a basically a plea down; yeah you fuked up, but i dont want the points. 400 dollars by the time you leave court, but no points.

Maybe in a few days. I just cleaned them with water. The bloody rubber keeps getting all over my palms and they're slippery. Right now I'm keeping them out in the balcony, so the sun 'dries them out' a bit. My room currently smells like rubber.
