Why, do you know where he was standing? The tackle was towards the advertising board, unless the referee is in a really weird position it's quite likely he was behind the player and didn't get a good view.


This is the sort of thing nobody even considers when slagging the refs off, including low grade pundits.

The 20-year-old was a first-half substitute at Goodison but was carried off on a stretcher after 72 minutes.

Martinez is awaiting the results of a scan on the Japan international.

Miyaichi joined the Latics on a season-long loan from the Gunners last summer but has made just seven appearances.

He also had a spell on the sidelines from November 2012 to March 2013 after picking up a groin injury while on international duty.

That really sucks. He is such a naturally talented player but he's been ruined by injuries this season and an ankle injury (especially for a quick winger) can have big long-term implications. Hopefully the recovery goes well.

Shelvey was a blatant red, and I have no doubt that the ref would have shown a red today if he'd actually had a decent view of it.
