It looks unhealthy to me, even the set up, although there's no doubt he is incredibly strong, so fair play I guess, I know I couldn't do it.

I wonder what the longevity is like for someone who is consistently maxing out with that form in this sport. The pressure on dat der lumbar must be insane. Although it's a 1RM and his form is probably perfect each set up until that point, like somebody said it's not gonna be pretty. I'm kind of curious as I have my 1RM attempt in 12 weeks and have been doing trebles and, if my back isn't strict on those, I'll notice some very minor discomfort the next day, nothing severe but makes me reassess things nonetheless.

doesn't look like there's any lower back rounding tbh. I see upper back rounded a bit but he pushes through with his hips smoothly and locks it out w/o a hitch. great deadlift IMO.

The degree to which he is rounded at the thoracic makes it unlikely that the lumbar too isn't rounded to some degree as well. It's hard to say though because of his build and the angle of the video.
Edit: I can see you're point, hence why I asked to rate it. I guess the lumbar can be quite strict with upper bending.Last edited by likeawashboard; 03-09-2013 at 02:16 PM.

The same can be said about butt-wink being frowned up. Some top PLers and strongmen have a little butt-wink and have no problems because it is modest and isn't near the limit range.

Thanks, gotcha. I'm in the middle of reading about pressure on the spine with various lifts and how it varies with angles. Feel like I'm overevaluating everything sometimes.
Yessir, I know how it feels when somebody posts something just to be knit-picky, kind of steals your thunder. Someone did it to me last week with a squat.
