    What should I eat preworkout to avoid lethargy?

    I don't wanna be sluggish at the gym, nor do i wanna be hungry thinking about food. My last snack preworkout is usually almonds, just based on my meal schedule. I know fat takes longer to be converted to energy but if I have it a decent amount of time before the gym would that be fine? I know carbs are fast acting. Is something like candy/fruit going to be that much quicker to be available as energy as a complex carb like oatmeal? Besides nutrients and health benefits is there much of a difference between the two? I've always wondered this. Postworkout I always have my largest meal of the day meat/carbs/veggies

    Test out what works best. I usually smash something sugar-based around 10min before walking into the gym. Banana, Poptart, Granola Bar, etc.

    You could also train fasted.

    if I train fasted and hungry I'll be in a hurry at the gym so I can get home and eat lol

    Personally, I find a protein rich meal an hour before going to the gym gives me the most energy. I feel carbs make me a bit sluggish and sometimes sleepy if it's from bread or pasta.

    If my meal is too close to the time I go to the gym/take my prework out. The preworkout doesn't feel as effective due to the food diluting/absorbing the PWO.
