We watched the first episode this past weekend. I found the whole instantaneous development/discovery of navigation tools and the boat to be a little hard to swallow.

It was necessary, though. If they followed a real progression, the show would've been a lot more episodes, and I don't think History wanted that kind of time investment.

Stick with it. It starts to get good toward the end of episode 3. Episode four was pretty good, and I really enjoyed episode five.

"Suspension of disbelief" and "time compression". Filming techniques to cram progress of a story into a small allotment of time.

They should have done an 80s hairband montage, or maybe a Norwegian death metal montage.

Watched the first 2 episodes then caught the new one. Was shocked to the core when my husband actually watched it with me. He is normally stealing the remote when something like this comes on but he was very interested. Going to go back and watch missed episodes ASAP. I have really enjoyed the ones I watched. And did not read all of this thread. Didn't want spoilers

I read somewhere (maybe) even in this thread that it's based on a viking saga. That made me even more interested in it.

FWIW Ragnar's wife is sexy, and I generally don't like blondes.

Watched first 5 minutes, thought the whole thing was going to be subtitled. Was about to stop watching (why not just read a book?), good thing I didn't, this show is sweet

Holy crap, that English king is a dipstick. As soon as my wife heard him offer to bribe Ragnar to leave him alone, she said, "Well, that's gonna work!"

    Made me LOL.

This week's episode was great...and I couldn't believe how many bad decisions I saw the English making!
