I waited so long for the new Evil Dead. The intro was ok, but definitely not as surprising/catching as the remake.
I then had to sit through about 13min of blatant social politics and signalling - one girl even had to reinforce it was culturally insensitive to ask someone if they made snakes blood @ Thailand - I thought they were joking at first, then she said it again seriously. The double jab @ men, cheaters, including complaining about child support and of course her promotion at work we had to know she was the first female to get into that position. But you know, I can put that aside the whole single mum pandering, cultural nonsense and gender attacks if the rest of the movie is solid.
So the actual movie itself, I mean it was ok some pretty gory moments but maybe I am just too used to the past installments, the recipe was the same just in a different form. What annoys me is reading the book has to happen or some form of the words being uttered, and you will always have some curious idiot but the person this movie bypasses so many signs it was a bit extreme how dumb you could be. The way they found the book was so unlikely and stupid as well.
Worth one watch, 5/10 but it felt shallow for me but if you've never seen an Evil Dead before you'll enjoy it a lot more.EoR is powered by unique Nanomolecular Hyperdispersion Technology. Giving him high bioavailability and myocellular saturation.

Watched a few on HBO max
The Night House
Woman's husband commits suicide. She's still living at their lake house and is being haunted. Decent atmosphere, nice creepy vibe. They had a good mystery going as well, but when everything was revealed at the end, it was meh, was hoping for more. Still a decent enough watch.
5.5/10
The Hole in the Ground
Single mom moves with her son to Irish countryside. she has a few encounters with an older neighbor who went crazy and killed her own kid claiming that it wasn't her son. Single mom starts questioning if her son is an imposter. There's a huge crater looking thing that they find in the woods nearby.
Great atmosphere, enjoyable storyline, but it just felt like it was lacking. Apparently it borrows some from different Irish Folklores, but they didn't really dive into that at all. I think if they could have gone into some background on the hole and just a little bit of explaination, they could have really hit this one out of the park.
I felt it was a great opportunity for an open ending, and it felt like they were going that way, but wrapped it all up.
Worthy watch, I enjoyed it, just too bad they didn't expand on a few more things.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981) - On Tubi. Really good for a made-for-tv movie. Mentally handicapped guy becomes a scarecrow out for revenge. 7/10
The Town that Dreaded Sundown (2014) - Amazon Prime. Never seen the original but I thought this was very good. Good story, cinematography, and some sex and gruesome scenes 7.25/10
Also rewatched Gonjiam Haunted Asylum and As Above, So Below. Both are very good but Gonjiam is the GOAT documentary style horror movie

Incident in a Ghostland - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6195094/ Not sure how huge horror buff me missed this one. Made by the same guy who made Martyrs, violent and more fun than Martyrs. 8.5/10
