So I have a set of hex dumbbells for sale on Craigslist from 5 lbs up to 65 lbs in 5 lb increments. That's 860 lbs(don't have 25 lbers) and I have $500 OBO... I know that's a little high but expect to let it go for $400 which is less than .50 a lb... I've had 3 dumbasses offer me $200 and one offer me $225... I mean really???? I try to be nice but it flies all over me!!! I'm all about getting a good deal but c'mon man!! End rant.....

Most buyers on Craigslist will be more interested in the deal than the goods that you are selling. If you go through the Craiglist thread, you rarely see people post that they paid a fair price for something.
Some of the lowballers might be looking to flip the stuff later.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #32 []---[] ()---() York Barbell Club #43 ()---() ▉---▉ Equipment Crew #50 ▉---▉

Someone on Craigslist is selling what looks like a really nice custom leg press for $650. He says that if he doesn't get that, he's going to keep it, because it's a really nice leg press. Maybe that will work. I'm kind of thinking about it. I might offer $650. It seems a fair price.
Huh. I just checked, and he reposted and removed the "I'll just keep it" part. Guess he didn't actually want to keep it, and was just trying to prevent lowballing. Guess it worked, and a little too well.
Anyway, maybe "or I'll keep it" will help keep lowballers away, though many may just figure it's just an opening salvo in the negotiations to come, and lowball you anyway.

Just put $425 firm and maybe you will get someone to offer you $400 or maybe someone will buy them for $425.
It surprises me how many people refuse to buy equipment from Elitefts because its too expensive but they will buy equipment from their competitors, then continue to go on EFS website to educate themselves for FREE

Not to be contrary, but I have seen several 5-50 lb. sets go for $200.
I got my own 10-60 (770 lbs.) and a solid two level rack for $300, American iron.
I guess it depends on your location, the condition they are in, and how quickly you want to sell.
Dumbbells can sometimes be harder to sell at a premium because you are probably selling the entire set all together.
I was able to sell some extra dumbbells I had at 60-70 cents per pound because I sold them as pairs and let buyers cherry pick what they wanted.()---() York Barbell Club #5 ()---()

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

The going rate on hex Dbs is 50 to 60 cents a pound. Are you listing the per pound price in your ad?
