Also, won't shorter guys fill out quicker? Cause I look bigger than friends that are taller than me, but some of them are stronger..

Will short guys always be weaker than average-tall guys?

Some of the strongest guys are around are the short, stocky dudes. Don't let height be an excuse.
If two people have exactly the same physique, but one is 5'2" and one is 6'2" the taller guy is going to be both heavier and stronger. Even if the taller guy is of smaller physique he might still be stronger because he's that much bigger and heavier. You're gonna have to compensate for your height with working extra hard in the gym and making them gains.

FALSE..
There are some advantages of being short , 1) doesn't take as long to fill out the frame and you can prolly do a **** load of weight on bench press/squats
PS: If there was a fight between someone who's 6'2 and a 5'2 dude I'd put all my money on the taller dudeLast edited by kanmaxime; 02-08-2013 at 06:18 PM.

So height won't really make too much of a difference then? I mean, cause I'm really, REALLY, short.

Shorter guys tend to be stronger. Shorter limbs, less ROM. Powerlifting wise, they compete in lighter weight classes and have the best leverage.
Disadvantage is though, if both a shorter guy and a tall guy are "filled out" so to speak, the tall guy will look much bigger. My log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=154949233

Im one of the short guys at my high school im 5'5 and i weigh 160. all my friends are like 5'8-6' and honestly im one of the strongest out of them. we short people build our frames up bigger and its easier to put on weight, personally i find it harder to cut down on bodyfat but the bulking part is easy and naturally.

It's not really as much height as frame/leverages IMO

The only lifting disadvantage you could have as a short (or rather lanky like me) guy is mental, if you believe you are disadvantaged by your genetics then you will be. So don't, and good luck OP.

So much bullcrap in this thread.
If you are on the shorter end of the spectrum, filling out your frame will be easy because you have a smaller structure and limbs. You're muscles are overall smaller than a tall guy's muscles, meaning it will take LESS muscle gain for them to take shape and look big. Shorter limbs will also make lifts like bench press and squats easier because you will have a shorter ROM to go through in order to complete the rep.
HOWEVER, that doesn't mean he is automaticly stronger than taller guys who lift less weight and could win in a fight. For one thing, lifts don't always determine functional strength, also, a taller guy will have longer limbs, and therefore have a good reach advantage.
And at the end of the day, a tall guy who's filled out his frame compared to a short guy with a similar build who has filled out his frame will look bigger/better. It will just take the tall guy longer to accomplish than his shorter counter part**********S ALWAYS NEG ME CREW***

UN...freakin'...believable !
There is NO "shorter" range of motion !!!
Lifting movements are lifting movements !!! So you're taller/shorter whateverTheFook a squat is a squat...anyone has to go from standing to bottom position, then stand back up again. A bench press is a bench press...weight at arms length...lower to chest...push back to arms length !!!
There IS NO DIFFERENCE ! ! ! Just sounds like a bunch of ppl petty arguing about nonsense, trying to justify an excuse for yourselves to be "less this", "it's easier for him to do that" CRAP !
It's all the same...if you're a poosy and give half assed efforts in the gym...guess what ?.?.?.?.? If you approach your nutrition & time in the gym like business and are serious about it, there's no excuses that need to be made.
It's not easier for ANYONE to achieve ANYTHING ! ! !
