I made a huge mistake driving after a few beers. My life is now ruined (srs) might lose my job. Own a car and will have trouble paying it. Moved in back with my parents. Don't drink and drive, there is way to much risk.

I know you are red, but here's srs advice.
Everyone makes mistakes. Make SURE to get a good lawyer. I had a friend who got out of a seemingly textbook dui (i.e. he was wasted, speeding (literally trying to race another car), got pulled over, blew highest tier intoxication, blood test got highest level, argued with cop/called him names, etc.) and he got off of EVERYTHING. It would have been his second offense. First offense you can typically get on a accelerated rehabilitation program. You'd be surprised how many judges, lawyers, etc get duis and it does not effect their careers.
but you are right that drinking and driving is not worth. Always cab it.The D.E.N.N.I.S. system:
Demonstrate value
Engage physically
Nurture dependence
Neglect emotionally
Inspire hope
Separate entirely

I think this depends on the state, not sure about California. Generally though I think they would have to prove you were attempting to drive, or did recently drive (warm engine, keys in ignition, etc.), I would not recommend this though. Are you sleeping in bar parking lots? If at house parties would just see if you could crash there.
I really doubt even if you got the ticket the judge would find you guilty, but if the cop decides to be a dick he can cite you for it most places even if it won't hold up in court. But even then you're looking at paying a lawyer which is gonna cost $$.
And to the OP, as long as you take it as a learning lesson, take care of the things you have to take care of (community service, etc.), a few years from now it won't be a huge deal. You can explain to future employers that it was a mistake in your past, that you learned from the experience etc., many states have a forgiveness program as well where they will drop it from your record after probation is over as long as you take care of everything.
Best of luck and many employers will be willing to forgive you for this, not a felony most places, and not domestic abuse related. Just hope you're not a cop/firefighter etc.

how many beers is a few?
over the summer i was a complete dumbass, at work one night (i was a dishwasher) some old waiter offered me a flask of beer, and i drank it and then drove. I felt completely normal and everything but if I had gotten pulled over for something random and the cop breathylized me, i may have gotten like a .03 or something, which would be illegal for a minor under 21. Luckily this didn't happen. I cringe at how stupid this decision was, and what it could have meant. Now I don't drink at all, but the few times I have, i make sure i dont need to drive for the rest of the night, whether its 1 beer or 5.

Get a Jewish lawyer (srs) or ask around for recommendations. Do your research.
The limit should really be the old 0.15%, being sleepy or talking on the phone impairs your driving ability more. That's what happens when you let mothers dictate laws. I would like to see stricter sentencing for those over 0.15%, and lighter for those just barely over 0.08%.
