I don't have that rack but I had dip bars custom made for mine. It sits on the safety pins and didn't cost much.

Hammer Strength makes ones, but it is not cheap. I believe I was quoted $350 for one.

Give a call to Rick from EdgeFitness or Dean from BlackWidowTrainingGear. They'll probably be able to custom make dip attachment for you at reasonable price.

Not if he wants them to lock into the rack like the Hammer Strength J-Hooks do. Rick won't even make me extra hooks for my rack. He may have better luck with Black Widow, but I would not hold my breath.

that is odd, as it would not be that hard to fabricate the actual locking "mechanism"

It does not even truly lock in place. It does not have the standard 2x2 or 3x3 or even 3x2 steel with a hole as most designs do. I suspect Black Widow make work with you if you send them all the exact measurements, but Rick (who I think if a good guy) seems too busy to bother making something so custom for someone else's rack.

I know, ive owned a HS rack before. It would be easy to make a setup to fit/secure in place.

Grab the next biggest size tube steel, cut off a side, put in teflon inserts of correct thickness to fit "snug", tap the opposite side and screw in 2 bolts spaced to fit in the slide-in slots. Then weld the dip handles to the side opposite the bolts.

BUT, finding tube steel of the right size, without having to buy a whole length would be the annoying part. Of course you could also take plate and just make a c-channel via welding it.

I reached-out to Hammer Strength last month about getting a set of those handles for my OHDPR8 rack and this is the response I got:

    ########
Thanks for contacting Life Fitness/Hammer Strength with your question. Yes, you can purchase the HDRDIP handles for your rack directly from here at Life Fitness. Hammer Strength pieces have about an 8-10 week lead time. The reverse dip handles sell for $299, plus shipping and local sales tax.

If you have other questions or want to order, just let me know.

    Be well,

    Mike Kamin
    ########

$300 seemed excessive to me but I'm starting to scratch my head as to how I can find something else that will work. I was thinking of just taking one of the J-hooks and sending it to a custom fabricator so they can get whatever measurements they might need.

BWTG was the first call I made but the guy said he didn't think he could make them unfortunately. HS's price for the attachment seems outlandish, especially given you can just buy a standalone dip stand for $150-175.

The standalone dip stand will probably be the logical next step for me unless someone drops a fat bag of loot in my lap. I was cracking up when I saw the $300 pricetag for the handles though...

    --------
    Michael,
I knew Hammer Strength gear was pricey but $300 (plus tax and shipping haha) for a pair of dip handles? These must be forged by Hephaestus himself. I paid $650 for the entire rack! What a shame-- I figured they'd be pricey but if they were $150 or below I figured I could splurge on them to have a matching set-- I never would have guessed $300. I'm sorry to have wasted your time Michael.

Take it easy and have a happy turkey day!

    --------
    Eric,

No problem, it wasn't a waste of time. Nobody ever said Hammer Strength equipment wasn't pricey. But it is the best.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving too.
    --------

At least the guy was nice about it.

Extra J Hooks are $450 and the technique trays are $550. I almost bought an entire used hammer half power rack just so I could snag the hooks off of it.

At first I thought the price was outrageous, but after seeing what others charge for just J-hooks, the $299 price tag seems to be acceptable, kind of.

There seem to be big margins in accessories.

Maybe someone could organize a group buy with a fabricator to make it more worth the fabricator's time. I don't have the dip attachment but the j-hooks are substantial -- probably 15-20 lb each.

That's not a bad idea, I would get down on that... I just have no idea who to contact about fabrication. Would anybody else be interested in some kind of group buy/fabrication?

I think our best best would be to get the exact measurements to someone at Black Widow and see what they could do for us.

I am emailing BWTG now. I will report back once I hear anything.

Also, if anyone is looking for the optional spotter stands I have an extra pair I would be willing to trade, just FYI.

Just to update this, havent heard anything back yet. They did post a message that 1-2 guys are on vacation so custom orders are now taking 2-3 weeks to deliver. Could also explain an email logjam.

Another update - they posted that they'll need 1-2 months to catch up on the current load of custom orders. Any other fabricators out there that might be worth contacting?

Does anybody have any experience with West Cary Barbell? After hunting around on the net today I figured out that they are 20 minutes away from me. I can go over there with one of my J-hooks for them to get measurements off of no shipping or anything. Here was their custom order page: westcarybarbell.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us&zenid=av8kle48r13ul 1jna9u49cgu21

Here's a quick album I made with pictures of some measurements from the J-hooks and some hand sketches of important dimensions needed for a re-create.

I wish I would just hit 50 posts already.

Talked with the gent from West Cary Barbell today on the phone, seemed promising, I'll keep you guys posted. I'll have to ask about recreating J-hooks as well since you're basically making J-hooks already when you're creating something that has to lock-in to the rack.

BWTG is not interested in making these as they would want to physically have one on hand. Maybe you will have better luck with West Cary. I have a bar from them and think they did good work.

Ive had trouble finding an attachment for my Atlantis rack so I decided to build my own. I spent the last couple weeks building it in my spare time and finally got it done today. Needs some cleaning and a finish, but I love it already. It is way overbuilt.

Looks badass, powercoat it black and start selling LOL

Got a reply from BWTG today saying they need a J-hook from the HDPR8 rack to properly build a dip attachment that would fit. Also got a reply from a local fabriactor who said they can weld but not bend pipes. I sent them a pic of the juggernaut version to see if they could do that since I could just loan them one of my J-hooks to measure.
