It's an unwritten truism of the road by the way, that the more situational awareness your vehicle requires in traffic, such as bicycles and motorcycles, the less its operator has.
It's not a blanket generalization, but it applies more often than not.

I always tell people to visit the National Parks in Utah now, while they're still beautiful and accessible. Inevitably, as more people discover a place, or population rises around the area, it'll wreck it. Look at Yellowstone in the summer. You can't even move for all the idiots swarming the place. I have no desire to ever go back.
Besides, with all those people, someone inevitably will wreck / deface something, then they'll begin restricting where you can hike in the park, and areas become off limits to protect some obscure species of insect that dies when it come in contact with sunscreen from the 1 billion moms spraying the living sh!t out of their toddlers, etc.☠ By reading this post, you have agreed to my negative reputation terms of service.

I think the only movie on my top 10 that I didn't see was The Shawshank Redemption.

This is my new favorite song, just in case anyone was wondering..
"It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others"

This happened in Peru a few years before I hiked the Inca Trail. It was getting destroyed by the number of people on it and all of the trash that was just getting left everywhere, so the government put major restrictions in place: drastically slashing the number of people allowed to enter the Trail each day, regulating the maximum weight each backpack can hold, raising entrance fees to help defray the cost of maintenance and repair of the trail, and putting super-strict penalties in place for anyone caught littering or violating the rules. Really turned things around in a relatively short period of time.

I don't understand how anyone can be so careless, inconsiderate and self-important enough to just casually throw their garbage all over the place.
I wish there were stricter penalties for littering here. Like severance of a limb, or perhaps even death. The fact that someone would litter in the first place tells me all I need to know about them. They have no place in a civilized society. Thank you and God bless.

I'm a big fan of the environment but I own two v-8 vehicles and drink mostly bottled water.

I think it's both strange and dumb that making an effort to try not to trash the planet is somehow a political stance.
