Do you guys lunch together?
Do you brown bag it or hit up Chotchkie's for some shrimp poppers?
Do you gossip about us over lunch?
Who is funnier in real life; who packs the most lulzpunch in the 3-5 minute watercooler interactions?

I keep seeing photos of various military personnel sporting beards. When I served, no beards were allowed since it interfered with proper sealing of a gas mask (except for a very few special forces types). Are beards somehow now regulation?

I'm pretty sure Kvk was being sincere.
And I fancy myself something of a Kvk expert.

There's definitely an overt and palpable tone of vulgarity in the Rants of yesteryears.
I don't know if we all collectively matured away from the toilet humor.
Or if we actually refined it into something so sophisticated and subtle that you can't even tell it's toilet humor anymore.

Much of the mainstream army officers despise the SF guys for that stuff. There were even articles in the Army Times while I was in afghanistan about that. Officers pissed off that the SF guys weren't staying within regs, etc.
But hell, even amongst the SF guys, some stay in uniform and regs, while others don't wear a uniform a single day they're in theater. My unit hung out with the latter more, but really all of the SF guys were cool to hang out with. SF on the whole is far more enjoyable to hang out with than regular army on the whole.
edit: My unit in Afghanistan wore civilians and most all of them had beards (I couldn't grow one ). Many guys on base that i dealt with swore I was SF. For the longest time, the guys at the supply yard thought I was a contractor (they only saw me in civilians and I left my weapons at the office). Then my commander started enforcing the rule that we - as military - had to have our weapon on us at all times. So then I'm walking around with aeropostale shirts and jeans on and a pistol on my side. THe guys I dealt with were like WTF?? You're military? Damn you're SF aren't huh??-

We've been keeping them at war in god forsaken places for over a f'ing decade.
Let them wear their beards however they freaking want.
I say.
