December last year a friend told me about how he had been making extra cash on the side to keep himself going at uni, and as I could always do with a little extra cash I thought I'd give it a go too. Matched Betting. It's basically taking advantage of the offers online bookmakers give in order to get people to sign up. The majority of online bookmakers offer a free bet ranging from �10 to �250 when you sign up and place a bet. I basically used an exchange in order to make these bets risk free, and took advantage of all the offers, earning �1800 in just over 3 weeks.

Not sure if USA can do this (Gambling illegal?)

Bookmakers offer a free bet when you sign up and bet, eg Betfred offer �50. The idea is to bet �50 on betfred, and lay the bet at an exchange so that whatever the outcome you break even. You then get the free bet and do the same thing, guaranteeing a profit.
Rinse and repeat at all UK bookmakers!

Completely risk free if you are not an idiot and can follow simple instructions and do basic maths (Strong username ratio) (inb4 this rules out miscers)

I can confirm OP is talking the truth. I started at the beginning of 2010 and made £5,000 + to date. I have had to close all my accounts though for 6 months as I started to become addicted to Gambling, which isn't what matched betting is. Feelsbadman

What we do is place a bet of £50 on Sporting Lisbon to win at Ladbrokes at odds of 2.10.

We then lay a bet of £52.24 at befair at odds of 2.06 for Sporting Lisbon to win.

If Sporting Lisbon win, We make £55 profit at Ladbrokes, but have to give up £55.37 at Betfair.

If Sporting Lisbon lose or draw, We lose our £50 at Ladbrokes and gain £52.24 at Betfair. Betfair will take 5% commision which works out at £2.61, so we will receive £49.63 from Betfair. As you can see whatever the outcome, we end up with a 37p loss.

I dont get it, why would this method return in your favour if the game was drawn?

Matched betting works, but it's rewards are tiny until you start putting big money on your bets.

You're guaranteed to win - assuming you do it right then you can't lose on a series of bets;

The other disadvantage is that it really relies on getting the free bets from bookmakers (i.e. the "sign up now and receive a free £10 bet" offers). This is fine the first time you do it, but to make any money using free bets you have to get the free bets time and time again, having hundreds of email addresses etc.

Whilst matched betting is perfectly legal, the process of getting more than one free bet definitely isn't.

You got it the wrong way round. It starts off fast, there is an easy £1k + to be made from free bets but then it slows down as you start to run out of sites.
