Barefoot running is awesome! I have a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves and I gotta say, I love them. They're comfortable, easy to put on, and great to run in. Here's a link that explains barefoot running. It's pretty simply and seems more effective to run barefoot from my personal experience.

If you have any running events in your area, like a 5k, I'd highly recommend going for it. Always a great atmosphere and would be great to coincide with the challenge.

Inb4 Timba is a running preacherman - sorry I cant help it man :P
I've been recommended offroad by a couple people now. Once I am back in tip top shape, I am going to try it. Barefoots are midfoot or forefoot. JCPryor's link shows an almost completely flat foot.

A 5k would kill me unless I walked it. Not built for long term speed. That's why HIIT appealed to me.

Thanks, I will be reading about it later, to hopefully avoid any further injuries. I think I was forestep running when it happened. Will try flatish if/when I next try again.

Still sore, but I think better. Sometimes I forget about it and can walk normal for a short time, but it still hurts to move legs out as well as when moving knee in upwards position.

Back lifting today. Squats weren't comfortable, but I got good depth, so I am happy with that and the overall workout was good too.

Fasted until after workout, about 1230-1300ish I started eating.

    Power Cleans
    3x2 @ 135
    2x2@ 155
Couple fails at 165. Can't seem to get it high enough. Probably just need to squat a bit lower on it.

    deadlifts 5 @ 275
    OHP 5 @ 90

    deadlifts 5 @ 275
    OHP 5 @ 90

    Pendlay Row 5 @ 115

Extra left shoulder work with 10 lb DB

    Pendlay Row 5 @ 115
Bent over DB laterals 10 @ 10 lb DBs

I took 2 caps glycobol before deadlifts, had about 50 g carbs afterwards.

    Final Macros
    Calories 2,177
    Carbs 131
    Fiber 27
Net 104 (a significant amount of this is sugar alcohols, probably about 70-75 grams, really)
    Fat 114
    Protein 178

Tomorrow is going to have at least 1 big carb meal. Going to keep it under control and only have 1 meal, then back to keto.

IHOP may run out of pancakes for that meal though.

It feels a bit weird at first because your so focused on trying to get the perfect mid-foot strike. Also, when you do try it, make sure you take it easy. I ran about 2mi at a fast pace in my merrells and my calfs were completely fried. I sat down for about 30 seconds after my run, got back up, and my calfs were completely tight. They were like that for at least 3-4 days. Barefoot running can be hell if you don't take it easy your first couple of runs.

Glad your injury is getting better. Hopefully the rest of the pain goes away soon. Injuries FTL....

Planned on working out tonight before bed. Had a long transport, ended getting off work really really late. Will make up tomorrow(normal rest day) and then resume normal schedule on Saturday. Pretty irritated about this. But leg still hurts (left one only seems like) so hopefully tomorrow I will be better.

Wife made dinner this evening, plus leftovers from applebee's, so I don't have a good accurate weight/record of what I ate. So I am giving myself some wiggle room there.

Came home and workout went pretty well, though I felt a bit weak on my power clean.

Small carb load + glycobol, along with CI and astravar before workout. 2 raviolis, 3 andes candies, small amount post as well. Kept it under control.

    Warm up
    Squat 5 @ 135
    Decline Bench 5 @ 135

    Squat 5 @ 135
    Decline Bench 5 @ 135

    Squat 5 @ 205
    Decline Bench 5 @ 135

    Squat 5 @ 205
    Decline Bench 5 @ 135

Power Cleans - tried a slightly slower initial pull
    135 x2
    155 x 1
    Couple fails
    145 x2
    145 x2
    155 x1
    couple fails

    deadlifts 5 @ 290
    OHP 5 @ 80

deadlifts 5 @ 290 Full lockout questionable on last few reps
    OHP 5 @ 80

    Pendlay Row 5 @ 105
Bent over DB laterals 10 @ 10 lb DBs

Extra left shoulder work with 10 lb DB

    Pendlay Row 5 @ 105
Bent over DB laterals 10 @ 10 lb DBs

Going to 6 reps next week, except for deadlifts.

For dinner: Was going to make chicken cordon bleu, but we are out of ham. So I cooked up a couple strips of bacon and put that in instead. Plus a turkey leg.

I am getting wildly inaccurate turkey leg estimates on MFP, so I am either 100 or so calories over goal, or about 250 below goal. I expect some fat snuck its way into diet that I can't account for (cooking oils, that don't all get absorbed). Not too concerned, I got enough protein either way. Things are on track.

Did about 10 minutes light LISS cardio today, just to see how it went. No problems at all! Not going to try HIIT again until I've acclimated myself to LISS better though.

I used my vibrams. Did pretty well. A lot less plodding with the forefoot strike instead of heal. Felt lighter on my feet forefoot striking, if that makes sense.

I got a nice white NIKE shirt at sports authority, mostly paid with a reward I got for spending money there. Can also double as an undershirt for work, so it is multi-purpose.

I tweaked my calorie and macro goals to 5% more fat, 5% less protein.

Going at a pretty good pace for weight loss.

Another good day. Macros are a bit off due to dreamfields. Some of it may work, some not. Had Glycobol to ameliorate it somewhat - forcing carbs into muscles hopefully. Workout felt good.

Net 87 - dreamfields pasta should reduce this to about 50 grams carbs and increase fiber, but they can't claim that. This is worst case scenario.

Nice workout today. Took my time while deadlifting. Upper PR just a touch. It seems like I have about 10 good deadlifts in me when I am on keto diet. After 10 I start getting lightheaded when I try to pull.

Did extra squats, instead of my warmup of 135, I just did them all at my working weight today. Next week is 7 rep week!

    Squat 6 @ 205
    Decline Bench 6 @ 135

    Squat 6 @ 205
    Decline Bench 6 @ 135

    Squat 6 @ 205
    Decline Bench 6 @ 135

    Squat 6 @ 205
    Decline Bench 6 @ 135

    PC
    135 x2
    135 x2
    145 x2
    145 x2

Some 45 lb "from the hang" work, work on getting top of PC just right.

    deadlifts 5 @ 295
    OHP 6 @ 75
    Deadlift Singles
    305
    325
    335 (new PR)
Couple fails, then lightheaded @ 345

    OHP 6 @ 75

    Pendlay Row 6 @ 105
Bent over DB laterals 10 @ 10 lb DBs

Extra left shoulder work with 10 lb DB

    Pendlay Row 6 @ 105
Bent over DB laterals 10 @ 10 lb DBs

Deliberately went slower than I normal do with the 10 lb weights.

    Macros so far:

    Calories 1,749
    Carbs 80
    Fiber 22
    Net 58
    Fat 85
    Protein 163

I might fry up a bacon strip or two and eat it later on, just trying to get fat up a bit.

I was 210 lb right after workout, but I would like to get that as a morning weight before I update to it. Still progress though!

I might fry up a bacon strip or two and eat it later on, just trying to get fat up a bit.

I was 210 lb right after workout, but I would like to get that as a morning weight before I update to it. Still progress though!
Nice PR bro! Def. fry up a few bacons. I've been trying to get my fat up as well. Sometimes it's hard.

I should have, but went to bed instead. Now I def wish I had eaten that bacon.

Managed to step on a piece of glass before bed too. Since I am trying to forefoot strike, hopefully it won't affect my cardio this morning, since is was to the side of the heel on right foot.

Reviewing that link you sent me JCP on running. Thanks again!

lol no bacon is definitely fortheloss.jpg

That sucks bro. Glass cuts are so painful. Little shards usually manage to slip inside the wound. Hopefully it's not too bad and you could still get some cardio in.

Anytime bro! It helped me out a lot.

Didn't effect the jog at all. Had a really good jog. I came in after my normal amount. Felt great, so went another round. Probably about 1.2 to 1.5. I'll have to drive it with my car and see. Kept to forefoot or ball striking the whole time. Shorter strides are a little weird, so I was going a bit slower than normal.

Great day today. Extra cardio. Did well with my food. Had about 8 oz cabbage and 12 oz corned beef for dinner. So full! Have leftovers for tomorrow. Supposed to be a rest day tomorrow, but I may end up doing cardio. Going to try to head to a park and jog a trail.

Also of note, and I am pretty proud of this: At the front of my development, there are two cinder block square markers/columns, about 4 to 5 foot high 2-3 cinder blocks per side. One had been knocked over at some point, and has been laying on it's side for YEARS.

I've attempted to pick it up once before without success. Today I would not be denied! I jacked it up(with a floor jack) to about 30ish degrees and then deadlifted it to an upright position. Will take some pictures tomorrow I think.

    EDIT:

The side facing the camera was in the dirt. Completely on the side. It needs some paint now to match the other one.

Every time I go by there now, I will know it is in an upright position because of what I did. I made my neighborhood just a little bit nicer today, and am pretty happy about it. Enjoyed a beer with dinner, but kept within my macro goals too, once I include the cardio

    Calories 2,235
    Carbs 54
    Fiber 16
    Net 38
    Fat 127
    Protein 184
