used to be super shredded, unfortunately didn't take picture during that time. I was about 24 yrs old back then. Had similar responses and attention as OP did. Looked kinda bad on the T-shirt but if I think about it now, I think I was over sensitive.
If girls give you better feedback than guys who negatively comment about your size, ignore the fukin guys and stay lean unless you are homo.
Nothing wrong with staying small, defined muscle looks a lot better than people who look fukin fat who might have more muscle than you.
Go ahead and get that 155pds and see if you would be satisfied with it. If you get bored, then u can always bulk up later.

I agree, except for maybe the "15%" number. No, you don't have to get fat. But "fat" in the bodybuilding community is different from the real world. Being 18% bodyfat in order to get your strength and LBM up a bit more could be the difference between spinning your wheels and putting on some solid weight.
Then again I'm more of a powerlifter than a bodybuilder. To me it's about the iron. And I couldn't pull the numbers I can right now at 12-15% BF.IIFYM - not even once.

Yeah, I bulked twice to 180lb: from my experience it is easier to retain strength and muscle on a cut then grow strength/muscle on a bulk: not sure what I am doing wrong.
Your buddy is lean as hell at 205lb?? Fuark... I have never even been over 187lb. And yeah you're 6'1 and I am 5'11"
I hear you: i wouldn't even say I look bad in a t-shirt: if it is form-fitting it looks good. Now in formal long-sleeved shirt you can't even tell if I lift.
Anyway, I will cut down couple lb and then go on a slow bulk for 3 months.

To be honest 5 years from now I want to look like this guy:

Although most people would rather me look like this guy:

I rather look bulkie... working on that than look clean and cut like most people on this site that i've seen.

I guess people's goals are different, but I find the first guy to be pretty fat. To be honest being fat and strong takes less effort than being ripped and strong. My main goal in lifting is health and aesthetics (and by aesthetics I mean to be more attractive to females, not male powerlifters or misc'ers). Second guy looks even smaller than I do now.
My perfect body would be this (I think this dude is like 40 on that pic):

Indeed everyone has different goals and plans for their future body appearance.
I was once a 320 pound FAT boy... from 15 to 22 years old I weighed between 280 to 320.
I like the first one because having such a low bodyfat percent in the research I have done causes you to feel like you are constantly starving not sure how true this may be though as in research differs and n does not equal 1.
I also understand being fat and strong is a lot easier than being ripped and strong. As you said personal preference my wife would rather be happy whichever route I take.

Nobody says you have to want a ton of muscle. Just approach your new diet as a sort of "mega slow" bulk. Just remember that even if you gain as low as 1 pound a month that is 12 lbs of muscle in a year. 12 lbs is a huge amount of tissue.
EDIT: Fuuuuuuuu*k..........I knew that picture was timberwolf before I even looked at the bodyspace. time to go outside

OP, I mean no disrespect but in all honestly I don't think you'll ever find true satisfaction in your body's appearance if you're constantly looking for external validation and appreciation. Of course I understand your point of view but my advice would be to try and look into yourself and find your TRUE motivation for being healthy and looking good.
Then, I would say, do only that which makes you the happiest. If you want to be 150 and lean, go for it. If you want 160 and lean, do that. There are as many people in the world as there are different opinions on what looks good on you, so do what you like yourself. I think deep inside you already know.
Also, this is a body building forum. The same question amongst other oriented people will probably give different feedback. Just a reminder.
If you want long term happiness with regards to your body and aesthetics, go for what you really want deep inside as this will make you feel better which will impress the girls more than 5-10 more or less pounds of meat.
Godspeed OP.Iron, sometimes it sets my teeth on edge, other times it helps me control the chaos.

Ummm, I am already satisfied with my body, but I will never try to stop improving it. I already decided on a slow bulk anyway.
I think almost anyone who says they don't care about external validation/appreciation is lying. It is like a girl saying she wears make up "for herself" yet always puts it on before she leaves the house

I didn't say you shouldn't care about external appreciation, of course that's completely normal. My point is that the nr. 1 motivator of your efforts to build your body should be to make yourself happy. I think that for moments where you doubt about what to do next, it can be helpful to just take a moment to reflect on this and stay close to yourself.
