I think a lot of the bottom feeders aren't really buyers, they're just contacting dozens of sellers hoping that one of them will be desperate enough to fall for it.

The worst are the guys that think they are clever email bombing you from multiple accounts to make their offer look more appealing. Theres one guy that's done it multiple times --every time that I list a particular brand. He sends the same emails each time... with the same lies about the original retail price... and then a half dozen ridiculously low ball offers from different accounts within a few minutes.

By lowest number I mean the least I'm willing to take. I always list a little higher than I want to deal with hagglers. Sometimes for a nicer piece or something hard to find here like a York split sleeve I have no problem getting full asking price.

That's interesting. I've had a few people ask "what's the lowest you take?" I always figured that if I put the lowest amount, then that's all that I'd get... or some one might see it as a challenge to try to get it lower! LOL! But my local CL isn't very active and you have to be patient to wait quite a while for the real buyers. They're much slower than the bargain hunters.

I find that there's a lot of people on craigslist that will only buy stuff if it's a steal - like they are absolutely ripping you off. I'm selling homebrew kegs (5 gallons) that go for $55 used at the local store, been seeing them go for $60 on ebay. I priced mine at $50 and would accept $45. But I keep getting offers for $30 or less for them, some offers for <$40, and then some reasonable offers. Some people are just cheap, but there's a lot of people that will just take stuff and flip it - they aren't the end consumer.

If I'm buying something, I usually offer less than the guy is asking unless I find that the price is pretty fair. The items are never that close to me, so I'd like to get a few bucks off to compensate for time and gas.

Sorry, I don't actually list my lowest price. Just a number in my head that is the lowest ill take. So if I list a York bar in my area at $140. The lowest ill take will be 120-125 unless it is someone I've dealt with before then they will get a better deal.

I sold 2 hex dumbbells great condition for 50 cents a pound (35 and 40's). I got an offer for 50 for both if I was 'flexible' on the price (ad said price was firm, 50 is a lot different than 75). I told the dude to take a hike.

I owe you reps for that, lol. I wish most of my CL transactions were that smooth, between people not showing up, getting calls on my way over saying the item has already been sold, and people not being at meeting sites, no personal interaction would be a blessing half of the time.

They suck and I hope they get a staph infected turd lodged in their rectum for months.

This is the type of mentality in life that creates homeowners associations, unreasonable rules/laws, gets us fees associated with normally free stuff, high property taxes, mass shootings, and genital warts.
