    Psyllum husk after-action report!

Warning: if you don't want to read about pooping, don't read this thread!

I've been feeling not so good on my high-protein low-carb diet. The diet itself is working, but my pipes weren't working! Tuna and protein powder don't want to come out. I've ended up not having bowel movements and feeling uncomfortable a lot of the time. And when I do have a bowel movement it's messy and not enjoyable (sorry, I warned you this thread might have Too Much Information).

Well, I decided to try psyllum husk powder, and let me tell you, it works as advertized! I feel so much better. It completely cleared me out within a day. It's great!

I did some more search and someone else said, "everyone who is a body builder takes a lot of fiber". I guess everyone has the same problem when on a high-protein diet. I'm glad I found out about this because wow, it really is better.

How I use it: I mix my regular protein shake carefully, get it completely dissolved. Just before I'm going to drink it, I drop in a couple of heaping teaspoons of the psyllum powder, and stir it briefly. I do not try to stir it in thoroughly, or give it time to start absorbing water. If I let it absorb water, the whole shake turns into a pasty thing which is undrinkable. I drink it quickly after I've put in the fiber powder, and that way it stays easy to drink. Psyllum powder itself has a very mild taste which is not unpleasant and almost unnoticeable, and before it dissolves, it doesn't make the shake thicker.

I assume it has some adverse impact on nutrient absorption, but I'd rather have that than feel uncomfortable all the time.

If you are on a high-protein diet and you're not regular, you might try psyllum husk. Go carefully at first and be prepared for results!

I use it when I need to, very similar to Metamucil which is orange-flavored. Gotta drink it quick, it coagulates within seconds.

Yeah, been using it every night for about 10 years. Oddly enough, started taking Metamucil at the recommendation of a Bodybuilder way back then who told me they used it 3 times daily just before a show to "flatten the stomach". Now, he's the only one I ever heard say that but not being a BBer then it made sense so I went on it.

I use two spoons of the Sugar Free every night and first thing in the morning lose whatever I ate the day before. Stuff is great and not only will you be regular and feel better but it's definitely healthier not to have waste sitting around in your system for days on end.
It's 80% diet, 20% workout and 100% in the mind.

If you can read or carry on a conversation, you ain't working out.

To be different the only thing you have to do is stand fast when the herd moves.

Parking your s**t on a bench ain't the same thing as using it!

I've been doing 2 scoops of this every morning:

    http://www.gardenoflife.com/Products...uper-Seed.aspx

My Dr. recommended it for cholesterol as well. And very few people out there get the recommended amount of daily fiber from their diet.
