not surprised. Sad part is i dont even blame him for relapsing. the only way he knows how to lose weight is simply outrageous. normally I'd preach about willpower, but i know if i thought i had to do that to lose weight i wouldnt even try.
thinking that he is 1 of thousands (or more) who have most likely contemplated suicide due to feeling trapped by the fat is infuriating to me.

"The hardship of the exercises is intended less to strengthen the back than to toughen the mind. The Spartans say that any army may win while it still has it's legs under it; the real test comes when all strength has fled and the men must produce victory on will alone." (Pressfield,1998, p.78)

That would suck. I used to have a 'niche' above my fireplace that was probably big enough to house an oldschool 32" projection tv. I framed in the niche and drywalled it with 4x4s instead of 2x4s to make sure whatever mount I bought for my tv would have a better chance of lining up with the studs. That worked out in my favor. 4 x 3" lag bolts holding that mount in....she ain't goin nowhere.

BSN HyperFX has been giving me good results. I've tried a few samples and for the most part they all mix like garbage, even the big names like Assault. All the BSN products I've tried mix really well. I have fruit punch flavor, which tastes fine, but I think they use some kind of pepper extract as a stim so there's this mild spiciness that I actually like. I take it on an empty stomach and I can feel that shizzle kick in within minutes.
My next door neighbor is a loud, hulking drunk that has bragged to me that he likes to take a couple of scoops of Jack3D before going out to party.
Anyone have any advice for cooking potatoes that doesn't take forever? Microwave (no explosions pls)? I have some in the oven with olive oil and salt and pepper right now but I've managed to screw up potatoes using several different methods thus far.US Coast Guard ~ SEMPER PARATUS

Can someone help me wrap my mind around losing LBM while cutting.
My understanding is that you are born with X amount of muscle fibers. I don't believe that you can actually grow new fibers. Correct me if I'm wrong. So if your muscle atrophy while you lose weight you are losing LBM but it isn't something that isn't reversible and with "muscle memory" those muscle will be "easier" to rebuild once you stop cutting, eat a surplus and lift heavy.
I guess, I'm trying to understand cutting slowly. What advantages does it offer?
1. You cut drastically, lose the weight quickly and at your new lower weight can then hit the gym hard and regain the lost LBM.
2. You can cut slowly, lose less LBM and remain fatter for far longer but never lose as much LBM.
Which is better?
Which would motivate the average person more?
Let me know what you think. (Off to the gym trying to put some LBM back on)

LBM is more than just muscle.
however I really think the loss of muscle for cutting too hard is greatly over exaggerated on these forums.
someone posts their eating 1500 cals a day & the thread erupts with "good bye sweet muscle" type posts or "how can you live on that" posts.
I do just fine on 1300 - 1500 cals daily & don't lose much in the way of strength when I cut plus i function just fine during the day.

Decided to lower my calories a bit. I've added ~10 lbs since I started bulking and the fat is starting to bug me (but then, so is the lack of muscle mass). So, figured I'd try and lean out my intake for a while and see how that goes. Hoping that I can lean out at least a little -- will probably need to play by ear. Currently, been eating at ~2500 calories and adding .3-.4 lbs/week. Figured I'd lower it down to 2300 calories and see how it goes.

Yeah, dude. Like crazy. Even my form has improved significantly, and so I think I'm at a reasonable point to eat at or slightly above maintenance.
My TDEE is at 1900 calories, but I was actually losing weight at that intake. So, upped it to 2500 and I'm seeing modest gains, both size and strength. I am hoping that if I lower it slightly, I would still be in a surplus but not over the top.Last edited by Voxmusculus; 01-07-2013 at 09:53 AM.

nothing burns my legs like the leg extension machine. that thing should be labeled and used by the US govt as a torture device. worked out @ 6:00 a.m. and I'm still feeling it directly in my quad.
