Damn, was planning on going to the VP this afternoon once most of the people are gone to tell him I wanna quit. He's Persian and the one who interviewed me and hired me so I figured he would be the best person to talk to. Now it seems like he left this morning for the week. So gotta decide if I should tell the mech eng supervisor, or someone in HR, or just wait till next week. I don't have to give any notice but I figured it would be nice to give them a 2 weeks heads up.

But what if I want to use them as a reference to obtain a future engineering job? You think they would talk bad about me or say I just upped and left if I didn't give them a heads up notice? The other issue is that next week I'm supposed to be going to CAD Simulation Training. So if I tell them today, they might not send me anymore and I'll miss out on that knowledge. Or I could wait, take the training, and then tell them I want to leave. My lease on my apartment isn't up till March 12th, so I do have some time.

If you think walking without giving two weeks will burn bridges, think about what having them pay for training and then quitting will do.
When you provide references, you provide names of people, not companies. So either find someone who will give you a glowing reference, or don't use anyone from that company.
Frankly, I'm the wrong person to ask for a conservative opinion of how to quit a job, since mine is about a millimeter from hearing me tell them to go **** themselves.

Tell me...what color is the sky on your planet?
Companies do not "look after you". You are a number to them. You are a "human resource". You are a replaceable cog. They are not your friend, your buddy, your pal, your parent, your babysitter, or anything else but a paycheck and if you're lucky, a continuing series of interesting problems thrown your way that you derive some personal satisfaction from solving. It's in their best interest to have you believe otherwise. But it's not in yours.

So? He exchanged labor for compensation. He gave them something. Companies aren't charities. They don't give you jobs out of the goodness of their hearts. They paid him to work. And they'd can his ass without two weeks notice in a heartbeat if it was in their best interest.

That's why I was going to be nice and tell them today so they could send someone else into training in my place. The only other young guy started working about a month after me as a program manager and he doesn't like it and wants to go to engineering. So if I told them now, then he could tell them he wants to go to engineering and they could send him in my place. I only suggested the other idea since you said I shouldn't give them a notice. Which would equate to getting training next week and then leaving the week or so after that.
Nope.
Not yet. I've been applying to jobs in Florida but, so far, I've been told I'm over qualified or under qualified. I just figured now would be a good time since the lease on my apartment is up. I'd have to find a short term place or hotel if I wanted to stay another month or so until I actually had a job lined up. I could move back home with my parents if I want. I also have enough money to have my own place for about 6-10 months if I want. Stig also just moved back to South Florida and has an apartment and told me to take the empty room, so I can do that as well.1372 @ 205

That cool. If you don't have another job lined up I would just go move back with the parents for a few months. No need wasting your savings. And really I would stick it out for at least a year in OK with your first job to get a full year's experience in and some free training.

Heh, the way you wrote mommy and daddy I thought you would be against that. And really, I didn't like being an engineering student for the last couple years of school and don't really like working as one either. So I would rather find something else to do, just need to find a way to make money so I don't have to live with my parents for the rest of my life lol.
