Can you stand around 5'4 and still play college football? I'm a midget but I run a 4.8 (40 yd) I have no problem taking a hit or tackling people much larger. I'm talented but I'm too short to be taken seriously, people tend to think my speed gives me luck.

Yes, but its going to be a handicap for you. The only pos. you can play at that height is running back at a college/pro level. Theres a RB named Jacquizz Rodgers, a young RB for the falcons, he's like 5'5 195. And has a huge core and quads. Maurice Jones-Drew on the jaguars is of similar stature.
You've gotta realize youre low to the ground so use that to your advantage, make quick cuts, and get strong legs and lower body so you're harder to tackle. Just be explosive, quick, and have strong legs and being short can be helpful. Your goal weight should be 180.

I'm like 5'6 and probably playing RB at a small NAIA school next year. Bt I weigh about 180-185 with a sub 4.5 40. With a 4.8 your below average for a RB. Get that up, pack on some mass, and then do it. The only thing stopping you is yourself. Get on a good plan, and start training your butt off. If you have good hands, you could try playing slot, and if you get good vision/speed be a punt/kick returner.

I played JH and last years HS spring football so let me tell you a few things. First off you can recommend your position to the coach but he will decide where you will be. I wanted to be a cornerback but ended up being starter strong safety. At your height and probably weight you will pretty much get insta-tackled from my experience. Your only solution is to work on: stiff arm, juke, high jump ( I've seen some guys do amazing things with a well timed jump ), spin off, and overall elusiveness.
IMO you will be a better candidate if you put on some mass and keep that 4.8 then if you stay the same mass and lower it to 4.6-4.7. It isnt as much of a difference as you'd think, defenders come in front of you so speed is only critical in the open field, where you have to watch out for Free Safety or/and strong safety.
But hey, if you can lower your 40yd and build some mass, by all means. I run a 4.8 as well and I am not even in that good of shape.

There's a diffence between his question and your answer, he's asking about college football, you replied with answers from JH and what I imagine was your freshman year of high school. To have a good shot at college ball, he will HAVE to build mass AND speed up his 40. But, being smart and knowing the game inside and out will help him also. OP start studying.
