What are the rules exactly, does it have to be orginal content? Those guys who upload full albums and have 10 million views aren't making money from them are they?

If they are and Google find out they would get in chit because they are making money off of copywrited material and the music industry loves to go to town on people stealing their chit

Not entirely, you can use someone elses content/music with their permission. Video games can be used as they promote the company, and if you make a "funniest moments" video of someone elses content, they usually like that since it helps their channel grow.

As for people who upload music vids i.e. VEVO, I'm sure they have special arrangements

Yes, sign up for google adsense. Once you're approved, go to your videos in your video manager and click on the little box with the dollar sign

You won't make money from youtube unless you're a youtube partner. And to become a partner, you have to upload clips to youtube regularly and have a decent amount of views and subscribers, then apply for the youtube partner program.

This is how it was before but things have changed. Anyone can link an adsense account with their youtube channel now, it's just a matter of attracting viewers with your content

agreed, right now it would really be hard to make it big on youtube because theirs so many channels and almost every niche has a community of people who have established themselves. You have to have a really unique personality and idea now, or be really good , almost the best, at doing something

I believe so yeah. I haven't done much research into it, but I do believe you will earn more with partnerships... Machinima and Yeousch of the Gaming community to name a few

new is a macbook. The old HP just died, stop working.

Not really into computers so not sure how it would work or if its even worth the trouble since i assume i would have to buy cables and chances are it might not even work.

There are a LOT of channels about EVERYTHING. You have to incorporate your personality into your videos. There are some channels where people don't give a damn about the content but rather hearing about the uploader doing things like vlogs, talking about their lives, telling stories etc. hodgetwins have their own little sayings/personality, so does chris jones... do whatever you can to be unique
