I have been having something weird happen as of about a month ago...
I have just started dieting and working out again after 2 years because my fiance died as well as a horrible car accident.
I was put on anti seizure medication, gabapentin, which caused me to gain about 15-20lbs in about 5 months, which for me, is crazy. And it was all fat because I wasnt working out.
So now I have a bit of tummy, understandably, but it really isnt too noticeable as you can see from my more recent pics.
But these days, I'd say the past 3 weeks, I will eat a clean diet, exercise, and my stomach bloats to be about 3x its size and it makes me feel HORRIBLE. I really cant understand why its happening.
I'm thinking of seeing the doctor if this doesnt resolve itself soon, but does anyone think it may be related to the diet change or something?
I dont eat foods that may cause bloating such as broccoli or any carbs.
Any help much appreciated!! Thanks in advance

Thank you for your condolences but I will point out that I mentioned my loss of over 2 years ago as a reason why I had not been training as consistently as I was before. Since I have started up again, to date, I have lost 8lbs. My question was not about struggling to lose weight, as this has not been an issue, but rather a question in regards to a symptom I was experiencing.
I have heard of stomach distention while eating certain foods or during diet changes, but I have been following this diet for a little more than 6 weeks with no change and I am having this problem out of the blue.
An example of my diet thus far looks something like this-
Breakfast - Protein shake, egg whites, plain oatmeal with blueberries
Snack - Apple with peanut butter
Lunch- Half a turkey burger mixed in with salad & olive oil
Snack- Nuts or fruit
Dinner- Salad with beans"Two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe," - Albert Einstein

There are still foods that can cause bloating. Some individuals may experience excessive gas with whey, dairy products, beans, leafy greens. etc. etc. It could be anything you are eating. Try removing various food items from your diet, it may take some time, but you'll probably find whats causing the problem. This coupled with hunger can make you miserable.
You could try using a simethicone. It helps break up gas and is often given to infants for just that. You can find this at any pharmacy in the baby medicine section. Increase water intake as another contributor to cramping with a lowered intake is dehydration.
If you think it's serious enough, see your doctor.

^^^^ This. I have had extreme bloating and looked preggers (I'm in my 60's so NO!) Even though fruits and veggies are great for you, as ACC mentioned they can cause gas resulting in bloating. I do feel your pain with this situation.
My suggestions: Eat smaller meals, cook your vegs and fruits if raw ones don't work, trial and error until you find the foods that work for you and solve the problem. If you have a "plumbing" problem that can cause distention. If you do, try Miralax - it works wonders.
Sorry for your loss. Good luck to you.

Definitely could be the fiber- I bloat a lot due to the amount of veggies I eat.. It could also just be your body adjusting. Give it some more time!

I am really sorry about losing your fiance!!! Before I ask, I AM NOT A DOCTOR, but this is just my own experience. With the bloating are you having gas bubbles and/or pain? Have you tried the Gas-X and it doesn't work? After I had my first baby my body went through some stressful times, both emotionally and physically, and about a year later, "out of the blue" my stomach would bloat out, and Gas-X and/or Maalox would not help. I was told IBS, which I tried eliminating foods, but still couldn't pinpoint. Then the doctor said it was stress, and tried to put me on medicine for that....blah blah, Well, long story short, I eventually found a good doctor that share/practiced my same beliefs (more natural approach), I got off prilosec, starting taking a stomach acid pill (I was low on acid) along with digestive enzymes (which I was told they help digest proteins). And things have been great. Now in addition my doctor is also treating other "sluggish digestive" things, but if nothing helps I would definitely reach out to a doctor. Just from my own experience, stress, whether emotional/mental/physical, causes havoc on the body and it's when we begin to "heal" that it all of a sudden acts out. But like I said, this is my own experience and I am not a doctor...I just feel your pain!
