Taking my CSCS in a week

So I am taking my CSCS in 8 days and kind of nervous. Does anyone have their CSCS and have any advice?

Definitely a hard certification to get (I've heard the hardest) but if you know the textbook you shouldn't have any trouble.

I would think that there has to be practice tests out there to help you determine where you are. Also, I have a bunch of Microsoft Certifications and tons of forums post what question types were on the test, etc. I would try to search for some forums that have this information. They always helped me significantly.

Yea, I have the practice tests. Thanks for the information on checking different forums. Do you have any specific websites I should look at? Thanks again.

No specific sites. That you will have to find but search for the certification type and "test dump" or "exam dump", etc. It will be harder to find info for your test than mine (tons of people in the tech world compared to strength trainers, etc.) however, if you are able to find a site it could really help. Typically people will take the test and then immediately go home and dump there knowledge on a forum to help others. Not cheating...just sharing useful tips, gotchas to watch out for, etc.

I'm assuming you have the textbook and materials. I remember the test being heavy on the science side. Been a few years back since I took it though, could be different now.

Well there are two sides the science side and application side. About 65% of the science side is on exercise science the rest on nutrition. The application side is broken down with most emphasis on technique and program design.

It was not as hard as people said it was. I am finding it harder to keep up with my CEU's because they only way to get them is to do a bunch of uninteresting bull$hit.

Thought I would give an update on my CSCS. I took it Sunday. The science foundation was different than I thought it would be. The questions were asked in more of application form. I thought it would be straight forward like myosin pulls on what according to sliding filament theory. The application part was tough there were some questions were there were two good answers but they would say choose the BEST or MOST appropriate. Overall I have mixed feelings on how I did. I just want my results.
Also if you are going to take it look at doing the online one you get your results instantly and might not have to travel as far to take it.

Many years late to the ball game, but thought I would add how I prepared for and passed the exam:

    At a glance:
Background: Medical School Student and MAG USAG Coach
Study Time: 2 weeks (few hours a day)
Primary Book: CSCS Prep Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Reference Book: Essentials of Strength and Conditioning (Fourth Edition) [Can find free link online - Used for exercise technique/60th percentiles for squat, bench, power clean. etc for each sport.
Testing Knowledge: 100 questions in CSCS Prep book and 5 questions at end of each chapter in Essenticals of S&C, just from a read through of CSCS prep was able to answer most of the questions and the ones I got wrong I reviewed and make sure I understood the equations and how to apply them to specific situations or made sure I memorized the 60th percentiles for each exercise. I will try and post a link to my study guide for the equations and parts you have to memorize for the exam. And would recommend reviewing each exercise and spotting technique as well as the questions in the books to test ensure you feel ready.

    h t t p s : / / d o c s . g o o g l e . c o m / d o c u m e n t / d / 1 U - l _ w A w y u u r k l o a c 0 G p Q y t 8 _ s V M N x l F k 0 P n H S o l x C T c / e d i t ? u s p = s h a r i n g

If anyone even finds this or finds it remotely helpful I can post answers to the study guide as well, but knowing this stuff will cover the majority of the knowledge you will need to know and apply, and outside this I we read through CSCS prep, review spotting/exercise technique for each weight lifting exercise and do the 100 questions in this book and in the Essentials of S&C (4th edition) found online. The more experience you have the less you'll need to study, but I think 4 weeks would be sufficient for anyone especially following this study guide.

    Best of luck!
