The reason for "plugging it into the computer" is that when I'm cutting, I want to be sure that everything is correct. If you miscalculate calories throughout the day, it adds up. If you are trying to be at a 500kcal deficit, but because you ballpark all through the day end up at 200 kcal deficit, then you're screwing up. It's also much easier to see that you are hitting your macros. It's pretty obvious to be honest.
But hey, if you don't want to be accurate and have success with ballparking, why not.

Any way you prefer to do it is fine. But if you choose to go the logging route with a spreadsheet, online, or app and it takes more than 3-5 mins. You're doing it gay.

how did dukend miss this.
I track on MFP some days, but some days I just do rough estimations, call a pint of milk 250cals 20g protein when it's closer to 270~ 18g. Shyat like that.
But at the end of the day......
you can do whatever pleases you as it really comes down to personal preference.
