24 hour fitness, I wouldn't have a clue...
Bally fitness is cheap, but its for the fitness guys and women really. They don't have a buttload of weight, and have more cardio machines than anything. I remember a guy telling me once the manager told him to leave when he loaded up 400 pounds on a squat rack once, and that he said took him some time to find all of it.
Gold's Gym is great. So is World's Gym. They got all the stuff a bodybuilder would want, lots of weight, enough cardio stuff too, but its usually in a different part, all the equipment to hit ever single muscle you'd need. Only problem is they're crowded sometimes.

I think it really depends on location, I've been to some 24 hours that were really good and some that were crap. Basically had that experience with Gold's and some of the national chains. I would reccomend checking each one out. For example I use the local YMCA when I am in NV home and my college gym during school.

I was a member at 24 hour fitness for about a year and a half and it was a good place, but now I go to Lifetime Fitness and there is no comparison. I am at lifetime almost everyday to workout and its the best part of my day. I even end up going on rest days just to sit in the sauna or whirl pool. The best part is that even when it gets busy and "crowded", they have so many machines and weights you never end up waiting for anything.. theres always stuff open..

i'm a big fan of Gold's. I go to Today's Fitness but up until last year when the owner bought the rights from Golds.. it was a Golds. So it's the same now as it was then... it's got everything i need
