I love shooting the 10mm but wifey couldn't handle it nor the 9mm, so she got a .38 revolver. She's got 6 shots and it'll always work. With the semi's, she got stovepipes every few rounds. Problem solved.

^^^This.^^^ bought my wife a 9 and she loves it. She has no problem shooting my .40 for that matter.
10mm is next on my bucket list. I shot a friend of mines, and they are accurate and flat shooting. I was really surprised.

380 is typically 90-100 grain weight bullet - 9mm is typically 115- 140 grain weight bullet

That alone tells you something, not to mention the heavier powder charge of a 9 (think faster bullet).

Saying "I wouldn't want to be shot with one" is a bit of a cliché. I wouldn't want to be shot with a daisy red rider either.

Shot placement, obviously, is important... but when you are using it to defend your life, it won't be like the range where you stand there all calm and line up your shot for twenty minutes. Even with training, more than a weekend class, you will still be shooting from a half panicked state. The adrenaline dump will be massive and you would be lucky to take a sip of water without spilling it, let alone have good shot placement.

I'm not saying the 380 is a bad round, lets just not pretend its even close to a 9mm.

As far as more people dying from 22, do you really want to wait for your attacker to die of infection or bleed out after three days? That is a nonsense comparison. Immediately incapacitating shots are what matter. You're not Rambo, you won't be making head shots.

I've killed my fair share of wild hogs and deer with a .22 up to 40-yards out. They died instantly in most cases. I've had to track deer for 3-500 yards that were shot with a .270, 7mm mag, 30-06 etc.

Carry the biggest caliber you can conceal and feel comfortable with and will actually carry. I would love to carry a .45 but my size and many weather conditions often would not allow. I bought a .380 Bodyguard and carried that for awhile, but I just felt uncomfortable with the round and did not have confidence in it's stopping power. I'm now carrying a S&W Shield 9mm. I debated the .40 but went for the additional round capacity.
We carry .45 S&W M&P as a duty weapon and it is configured similarly to the shield which is an added feature during any encounters.

Picked it up today and also got signed up for the CCW class on the 26th, frickin 6 hr class and includes range time. May carry my Ruger 9mm at times so bringing that to the class as well as the .380.

It was more of a strength issue than grip. Everything she was doing was right just the loads were too hot. (btw, i'm a double expert pistol shot as per USMC standards, not JoeSchmo saying he "knows" how to shoot)

I have no doubt you are a good shot. I am also a good shot. I have not been in combat, however I do have 35 years of range time, on more weapons than I can remember. I am grateful I have never had to point my weapon at a human being.

I'm a terrible shot with a handgun. My wife shoots one waaaay better than I do.
Rifles and shotguns are a different story. Not trying to brag, but I'm pretty Damn good.
One of my best rifle shots wa with a friend of mines 6mm about 10 years ago. We were sitting in his truck, drinking beer when this deer walks out.
He told me "Bill I've seen you make some good shots, but if you can nail that cucull, I'll give ya $100.
I did from 448 yards away with a Weaver 4× scope.
Bird shooting is my specialty. I usually get my dove limit (15) with less than a box of shells.
I remember the first time I shot sporting clays. I scored an 84out of 100, and that was doing it at an unconventional, raising the gun up when calling for a pull.
I'm pretty sure that shooting since I was 6 years old and my dad's guidance helped.

Nothing says 4th of July like a new rifle.

Congrats on the CCW but I think this may be a little difficult to conceal even at your size.

Nope, adding a Vortex scope and changing the butt stock to a magpul and that's it, doesn't need any extra bull$hit/weight added to it. But thanks for adding your 2 cents, it was definitely worth it.

Wife wants to get her CCW so we picked up this 9mm Ruger LC9S today, being a woman color was important and she loves purple. I don't care as she is happy with it and it seems to be a damn nice gun. Trigger pull is a hell of a lot lighter and shorter than my S&W Bodyguard which will help her at the range.
