Back for real this time. Not sure how many of you guys are left, but I'm back now. Here's the skinny... real skinny.
So that chick I was with got really abusive and yeah call me a wuss or whatever, but I'm too loyyal to say enough is enough. I just got diagnosed with ptsd and some arthritis and stuff, on top of one of my good friends killing himself a couple days ago and she still wanted to make the entire thing about her. I had a bit of a breakdown yesterday because of life's stress piling up and I told her enough was enough and thay I was moving out. Moved back in with my parents for the time being.
Oh yah, over thanksgiving I suffered a "sudden cardiac arrest" and died during a marathon I was running. The worst part is that I didn't finish and now I have a defibrillator to make sure I don't die again.
I've lost a ton a weight because I havemt workednout in almost a year. I'm the smallest I've been in 3 years but I'm taking my life back and I'm going to fall back in love with the big bad bi*** who has always been there for me. Iron.
BW - 140-145 (women ruin lives)
Lifting stats, unknown
Program - starting strength
Start date - today or tomorrow, hopefully today.
I'm taking my life back. I gave everything I had to that family after the car wreck and I never got anything bavk except for stress, drama, and heart ache. I've survived too much, between Afghanistan, my previous unsuccessful marriage, and now my cardiac death, to let them kill me. It's my time and I'm making a come back.My log http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=149523363

I think I'm going to ask a mod to rename my thread "Re-Starting strength" so be on the lookout for that.

Alright so I had my first workout back yesterday. It's bad.
Squat
45 x 2 x 5
95 x 1 x 5
135 x 5 x 5
Bench
45 x 2 x 5
95 x 5 x 5
Talk about depressing
Chins
10
5
Had to stop
Back extensions
3 x 15
So yeah, small problem. My defibrillator gets in the way during almost all overhead actions. I can do the exercise, but it puts a crazy kink in the lead wire, which wouldn't be bad except it's made of metal, and everyone knows, when you bend metal back and forth and back and forth over and over... It breaks. It wouldn't be such a bad deal if the defib sensed a broken lead as the same as heart failure and give me a bunch of 34joule shocks right in the heart.
So here's the question for you keyboard kinesiologists. A there any exercises that can be substituted in place of chinups or overhead press that would keep my shoulders healthy while I work on the main lifts which so far have seemed unaffected by the presence of this box in the outside upper area of my left pec? If there isn't anything then I guess I can either risk it (if it's worth it) or I can just not do any chins or overhead press. Sucks because I loved overhead press (when it was progressing) and I had a pretty big ohp for my size.
Any suggestions guys. Thanks. My log http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=149523363

As opposed to plain rows? I can do rows alright, I'm just worried about getting all imbalanced from not doing ohp and chinups.
I know that. If it broke it would just give me shocks into wherever the break occurred. People don't really die of it, it just hurts and you get a minor surgery, but yeah I'd like to avoid that. HahaMy log http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=149523363

I experimented with it, and incline press is definitely a no-go. Even the empty bar coming down smacked me in the defibrillator, hurt like a mofo, haha.
Jan 29
Squat
140 x 5 x 5
Deadlift
135 x 2 x 5
****gy time leg machine circuit with a friend, extensions, leg curls, and calves.
Jan 31
Face pulls
Light
3 x 10
Squat
145 x 5 x 5
Bench
100 x 5 x 5
Row
95 x 4 x 5
95 x 1 x 4
Fail, repeat next time, Form was a bit shaky and back/rear delt was fatigued.
Face pulls
Heavy
3 x 10
Bar bell curl (literally just the barbell)
In the squat rack of course
3 x 10
So as you can see my strength has declined, all over. Squat is starting to feel like I'm in control of the bar again. Bar path was a little shaky on Monday, less on Wednesday, and less on Friday. It's still difficult, but it's not like "jeez this is heavy" so I think the form will get easier as I gain more reps under my belt and as the bar gets heavier. Excited to start adding again.
Question of the week. Should I stick with bench, ohp/dead, bench? The thought for this is that I can't ohp anyway so why waste 2/3's of my workouts on it on alternating weeks? I figure I could just stick with A, B, A every week and not alternate. Maybe add deadlifts to the A workouts, just for while the weight is light. That way I'd add 15 lbs on squat, 10 on bench, and 20 on deadlift per week. Thoughts? I know I always deviate from a set plan and end up hating myself for it later, but I gotta get strong, being weak and thin is killing me again.Last edited by HoneyBadger300; 02-02-2014 at 07:29 PM.

One person on the SS forums mentioned working on OHP isn't necessary and that if you focus on bench, your OHP will go up anyway without even focusing on it. Not sure how true that is though. If you're just looking for anterior delt development they're are tons of other exercises. Basically you can't press anything overhead? So no seated DB shoulder press or even seated BB shoulder press? You can try front delt raises

Yeah, trying to avoid any overhead work. Ant/lateral/rear delt should all be good though. I'm going to do squat, bench, DL, row today and see how that goes. Maybe too much, but the weight is light and my body should adapt. Since Wednesday will only be squat, I'll add accessory work to it. Bi's, Tri's, Facepulls, maybe some upright row, we'll see how it feels on Wednesday.
