    Thanks mate.

Don't think I'll really 'come back'. One more year of University then honours, I'm really more focussed on study, career and related stuff. Still - plenty of time in the holidays and always some laughs here so I'm sure I'll still browse.

Not much point speculating about your max if you haven't maxed. Strength curves can be really ****ing weird - would certainly think that 255x10 would translate to > 300 though.

Good stuff. Is your weight current?

Just about. It wasn't current but its starting to be again, if that makes sense lol.
I was on a retarded bulk eating everything in sight at ridiculous proportions and got to 230 at 22% bf.
After About a month of some cardio, and this last month of heavy cardio and dieting Im at 209 as of today in the gym and about 18% bf (according to the machine at the gym)

True about the weight curve...When I was on a 5x5 I remember at one point I couldn't lift 185 x 10 but could do 220 for 5 reps. Puzzled my mind lol

Edit: I just noticed your almost at the same stats as me. What do your big 3 look like? Your body is what I'm shooting for. Looks very nice for a man of our height.
    Bench Press: 205x5[x] 210x5[x] 215x5[x] 220x5[x] 225 x 5[x] 230x5 []

^^Scratched the 5x5 program. Lifting BP 255 x 10, do not know max as I could care less.

Yep. My squat curve is bizarre. Anything within ~ 50-60 pounds of my max I can pretty much only do for a single.

My training hasn't been that serious for a fair while so my lifts are pretty much where they have been for quite some time.

    Bench ~ 375lb's, squat ~ 465lb's (never been much of a squatter).

I haven't deadlifted in a fair while. My hand is pretty ****ed.

I feel heavy and fat as hell at the moment though...That back photo is with a 36" waist lol...

Curtin in WA... probably why. But still, for what I have gathered, honours is just highly academic, with about zero relevance to the industry.

Hmm. I'm at USyd and I don't personally feel that way about honours based on my own research, understanding and communication with various professors. Like you said, it might simply be University specific.

I've never bought into this idea of finance academia being irrelevant to industry.

Derivative valuation models stem from academia, every US hedge fund is packed with PhD's in mathematics/financial mathematics or MBA's from Harvard/Wharton who graduated with an honours degree. Underwriters need to value equity for an IPO, M+A needs to value companies and synergies - all the models stem from academia. Even if you do go the academic route, all of the professors at USyd spend ~ 50% of their time consulting with industry (for very significant fees). Academia and industry are largely inseperable in finance to my mind, although that certainly isn't true of all professions.

I feel like there going to give out at the joints. Any ideas or how to fix since you seem to be tenured?

Someone's new to the squat party based on that squat:bench press ratio!

Well if I'm correct in that ^ assumption, I'd put a decent flutter that your knees collapse inwards when you squat, which puts a lot of un-nice pressure on them. Do you try and push them out on the way up?

Plenty of IB's favour honours students and even if you do go the academic route, all of the professors at USyd spend ~ 50% of their time consulting with industry (for very significant fees). Definitely, I also had been accepted at La trobe, perharps I should have gone there, something tells me it would have been considerably better managed. Some of my teachers had not tought in a few years, rusty as hell in teaching. All my teachers had an academic backgroun with zero real world experience.

Basically for my first semester I had advanced comparate finance/ and advanced research methods. contracry to what I though advance corporate finance ended up being all about "does corporate structure matter" 10 weeks of that, going through 3-4 journals a week. I thought it was going to be more about things like valuating projects in the real world or something of the sort, not so acadamic bull**** that got us nowhere. The other unit, just learnt about regression analysis (coming from a non economics backgroun)

Second semester units, had advance financial analysis, which again ended up academic as ****, testing the CAPM model and behavioural finance... urgh. As an elective I choose international finance, which ended up being pretty low level, close to undergrad + a bit of regression analysis... again academic not useful for out there.

I had some friends do derivatives for their thesis and also chose derivatives for their electives. Probably the most useful path in honours. Regardless I don't see much future in derivatives unless you are a algorithm coder. I think it was UBS that was firing a lot of people from their derivative desk and changing them for algorithms.

Anyhow, I decided to move on from commerce/finance, the indusry is ****ed, too much competition and my heart is simply not there. Applied for physiotherapy now.
