I've joined the gym, got a routine going and everything. I know nutrition is very important when bulking and as an ectomorph, I'm stuck and I don't know how much I need to consume. Some places say 1g for each pound of body weight and some say 0.7g. That is quite a big difference, I'd need to consume 140g as I'm 140lbs. But if it was 0.7g I'd need 98g. Right now I am struggling to even get enough protein, but before I start loading myself with it, I need to know how much I actually need to help new muscle growth. Thanks.

The ignorance in this thread is ridculous. Cals in > Cals Out. .8-1 g per pound and 500 above maitence will equal muscle mass. SRS

You should be shooting for 1 g of protein per pound bodyweight. You also need to be consuming 500 calories more than you're burning. Quality protein sources include: chicken, steak, fish, eggs, whey protein powder, greek yogurt, quinoa, turkey, beef jerky, hamburgers, lunch meats

"Many basic or compound exercises (e.g. squat, bench press, etc.) have a bell shaped resistance curves or shift the resistance through multiple muscle groups throughout the exercise's range of motion allowing the muscles to momentarily relax between repetitions. This period of momentary relaxation between repetitions allows greater opportunity for momentary blood flow permitting the clearing of acid accumulation."

I'll be aiming for 1g protein per pound body weight. And yeah, I understand I need a surplus amount of calories. As for the carbs and fat, most of the foods I eat contain both of these. I'm at 140lbs 6ft and I'm aiming to be around 180lbs, hard dieting and pumping heavy iron! Thank you for your help.
