Kind of sad... My British friend who was my primary fishing buddy is moving back to England in a few days.
Our kids are a month apart in age, and we had a lot in common.
Sucks that every time I make a new friend and find a fishing buddy up here, he either gets married and vanishes or moves to another country.
In other news... I landed a HUGE writing contract last week... I start tomorrow afternoon. Pays good enough that I should have all of my financial troubles paid off in a year's time.6'4"

It's not uncommon for people up here to have something really nice like that. Then it's also not uncommon for thieves to break into it during the week while it's sitting unattended on the ice and steal all the appliances and anything else of value.
My fish house is straight up dead on it's own wheels. Axle is nearly completely siezed, tires are shot and the bearings are dead. Right now it's primary use is for raising small chickens for a few weeks before they can be put into the coop or tractors to either lay eggs or be harvested for meat.
This weekend is my buddy's 40th birthday and annual up-north ice fishing trip. I was supposed to go, but one of my new whale clients offered me a contract worth $500... Only I'd have to write it over this weekend. Then I saw it was supposed to get to a high of -11 this weekend!
So I decided to cancel, figuring I'd rather make some nice bank by working the weekend than freeze my balls off.
Right now my life is very boring. I'm all work and no play these days, writing about boring stuff like gum disease and neurology. But I'm just making fat stacks of cash every week, so I'm making hay while the sun is shining.
Hope everyone else had a good holiday season!6'4"

Hey guys... Just popped in to say Hi.
I'm operating my own freelance writing service these days which keeps me crazy busy. Just started writing for a new client who sells a wide range of grills, which is really nice! Published a few ebooks on rural living and cooking for some dribble in passive income as well.
Been divorced two years now, which was a living hell. BUT my daughter is adjusted. Had to sell the hobby farm and move back to the city.
However, I bought a house on the city line, which borders a 50 acre wilderness preserve. So when I look out of three sides of my new house, I see nothing but towering forest... The other side is a city full of pizza delivery!
There isn't any hunting allowed in the forest, but I see deer and wild turkey almost every day. It has a bunch of old swimming quarries, and the local college isn't far away, so in the summer there's a lot of bikini action out my windows and on my daily walks.
I hope you guys are all doing good!?6'4"

Wow, can't believe this thread popped up in my subs when I logged on. It's been over a year since I've been on bb.com It's been so long that I retired from Fish and Wildlife. Less hunting, more fishing and just now trying to get back in shape.
Good to see some of you all are still alive. My current log

A step backwards is better than a setback.
If this (insert whatever trivial thing that is upsetting me) is the worst thing to happen today, I'm going to have a great day.
